Murder Must Advertise Dorothy L Sayers
A murder mystery with a ton of plot, with Peter Wimsey and his brother in law solving the mystery.
It was first published in 1933 so it's quite nostalgic, and Peter Wimsey is a self deprecating upper class twit.
The most delightful bit is that it's set in an advertising agency, and Sayers had worked in one. I'm sure former colleagues and clients would have recognised themselves, and it's very funny to read with that in mind.

I love Sayers, but her books rarely make it on to Libby. FWP.
Chilled to the Bone, Quentin Bates.
A wealthy man is found dead in a hotel room, tied to a bed and gagged. An ex-con is asked to find a mysterious woman. A civil servant needs to track down a missing laptop so he can delete some embarrassing emails about illegally deported refugees who were executed shortly after leaving Iceland.
And if that wasn't enough, Detective Gunnhilder's son has managed to get two women pregnant at the same time. Will she make it through the week?
Standard mystery novel, not as atmospheric as some of the Icelandic stories, but good enough to pass the time.

I love Sayers. I was thinking that "witches defending England" book I just read was a little Sayers-y, because of all the aristocrats and the mid-century atmosphere, but it lacked Sayers' sense of humor.

I love Sayers too. She was a contemporary and colleague of Tolkien and CS Lewis.

85. The Banksia House Breakout. Very funny story of 3 underestimated older people who escape from aged care in Sydney, and their adventures getting to Brisbane. There are serious undertones, including elder abuse. Some of their choices for overnight stays puzzled me a bit, as Forster, Port Macquarie and Yamba have never been on the highway. 86. Trouble in Nuala. Sweet detective story set in 1930 in Ceylon. The detective is a Ceylonese with an English wife, quite scandalous at the time.
