A receptionist at one of our medical centres was caught reading a book online at reception.
We just got the details through - it was fanfiction, rated mature, with 'smut' as one of the ratings.
We've all had a bit of a laugh at that in our team.

I went to a shop, and saw a young boy... maybe six years old... flick a stack of food items over for fun.
He didn't have an adult nearby so I told him off. "Hey, stop that, when you do that someone has to come and pick up your mess"
His eyes got very round. I think he was scared of me.
LMAO. I'm getting like my mother.

terrifying other people's naughty children... always a little satisfying.
Currently listening to Janey Godleys 'The C Bomb' series. It's a combo of her doing stand up in Glasgow and chatting with her daughter, who is also a comedian, and has autism, as does the husband/father.
It's a touching combo of memories from the 70s, the frustration of cancer treatment and impending death, and musing over the way neurodiversity looks from both the inside and the outside.
I'm also laughing at the job ad wanting people to work for £140 for 'a day's work' without specifying the length of the day. They want people with security clearance, knowledge of military language, and excellent skills in both Ukranian and English. for £140. ha!

I was sad when Nicola Sturgeon left politics because it means no more Janey Godley voiceovers.

Blurb for an article "Easter isn't just about the Easter bunny and Eggs. The holiday actually has Christian origins."
Whoa, mind blown

Blurb for an article "Easter isn't just about the Easter bunny and Eggs. The holiday actually has Christian origins." Whoa, mind blown A million years ago, I did conversation classes with some Chinese people and they asked about Easter. I explained the religious thing (great subject for an atheist), about the easter egg representing rebirth and Jesus rising on the third day etc. Thought I'd got away with it. Then they asked "what has the rabbit got to do with it?" and I had genuinely no clue and had never thought about it. ` I'm still not sure. But I've started eating Easter eggs already - ooops!

I think the rabbit has to do with "we're trying to convert these pagans and they're being resistant, so let's grab one of these fertility symbols of theirs and say it has to do with our holiday that just happens to be around the same time of the year"

Yes, the Christian missionaries were great at finding local holidays and festivals to latch onto.

In the northern hemisphere, it is Spring at Easter, spring is a time of fertility and rebirth. The symbol of the rabbit stems from pagan tradition, specifically the festival of Eostre—a goddess of fertility whose animal symbol was a bunny. Rabbits, known for their energetic breeding, have traditionally symbolised fertility. In the very early days of European settlement in Australia, an Englishman was homesick for England, so he had five bunny rabbits sent over from England. Either he was a very bad shot, or the rabbits bred like… well.. rabbits! Our country is overrun with the buggers. And all because of one stupid Englishman! Better had he not come here at all!

I’ve broken the Easter bun rules several times this year. I’ve even eaten mini Easter eggs early, because we had them at our team meeting.

The music festival Splendour in the Grass has been cancelled for this year. I’m laughing at all the conspiracy theorists on a local Facebook page who are denying the cancellation .
