From my trip to the supermarket this morning.
1. All the disabled parking spots were full, but one of the next nearest was available, so I parked there. 2. I arrived at the only opened person operated checkout at the same time as a young woman wearing a health department logo. She let me go first. 3. The new produce-weighing computer at the checkout was glitching, so I got my capsicum free.

sophie"3. Now I need to learn how to use the ice machine, the intermittent pneumatic limb compressors, and so on" My daughter had an ice machine after shoulder surgery, with the appropriate wrapper. You get whichever you need for your case. First thing we all learned is that the ice machine USES ice, does not make ice, so we needed to buy bags of ice cubes to stow in the freezer. You'll have two hands available to wrap your knee, which was not true for a shoulder. She needed help. The machine circulates the ice-water through the joint wrapper. You have to keep refreshing the ice, if it's the same type of thing he had. YMMV. Mr.W had the limb compressors for his knees in the hospital, but not at home. Good luck!

I’ve got the appropriate ice machine.. and I’ve been told to freeze cottage cheese sized containers of ice which melt much slower than the ice cubes coming out of the freezer. I’ve also got ad of today a specialized knee wrap for icing if I want to be icing out of range of a plug in which the ice machine requires.

I just searched the ice machines, and huh. You can get attachments for delivering the cold to any body part you need iced.

Interesting. I never had either of those after knee replacements. They put a compression sock on my leg, but I couldn’t wear it because of severe nerve pain just below my knee cap.

We were confused about the ice machine, so I called the orthopedic surgeon on duty, who answered my questions and, during the conversation, added that not all the surgeons recommend them but my daughter's surgeon was among the biggest fans. This was very useful information, because after staying at my house for a few days she was going home to her condo and would have a devil of a time wrapping her shoulder one-handed. Conclusion: cold is cold is cold, source of cold can vary.
I had a neoprene wrapper with a pocket for a flexible blue ice pack which could easily be wrapped one-handed, plus a couple of ice packs that could take turns in the freezer. This took care of her as long as she needed to chill. So I started wondering if her surgeon was just oneof those guys that had to use every gadget in the world,or had a relative in the medical device business or what.
Medical-Industrial Complex, indeed.
