We stay at homers need our own thread SC. Nothing for me as I work to travel and at the moment the work I have might get me to Auckland - then again it might not the way the fares are these days.

Flying to Italy tomorrow... but that's work so don't get too excited.
Planned; Down under for the family thing Parentals threatening to come to Europe and do a boat trip - either sailing or narrow boat in France... if that doesn't come off will go sailing somewhere else. Long weekend in Lisbon to escape King's Day

So it looks like Germany will be added as a destination for this year's European trip. And maybe the whole Portugal/Spain or Slovenia/Croatia side trips will change to something like Berlin...

Belgrade in April then possibly Malaysia and Singapore sometime this year and finally I'll try for Christmas in Australia again as that little plan came unstuck last year...... Apart from that I really don't know. Plans are coming together.... Although would it be silly have a few days in 'straya (even if it is potentially mid-winter) as I'm 2/3 the way there - I think I'd feel a bit guilty being so close (although on the other hand haven't had a proper holiday in two years - neither of the last two trips home really felt holiday-like). Especially as I'm still planning/hoping to make a Christmas trip home. Hmmmmm.

Not close in absolute terms (I have done the SE asia stopover on the way home) but still relatively a whole lot closer to home than London is.....

no more plans for me this year. I'm just back from a month in SEA - mostly Thailand but also Singapore,Vietnam, Hong Kong and Macau.
got some early plans for 2016 underway. I have a big birthday next year and I've always wanted to spend it in Vegas. If that doesn't happen..well i'm always on the look out for cheap flight to Thailand.

Where did you go in Thailand? We go there a LOT, mostly self-drive around different areas each time, but always include Bangkok.

we were in Bangkok - 3 times!. 3 days before the wedding, 1 day to get the parents back on the plane and then another 2 days with the cruise. I love Bangers so 3 times in 2 weeks was not an issue for me.
we also spent 5 days on Koh Samui for the wedding. I would definately return there - loved it!
next time we go to Thailand I'm going to make sure we get out of the city and head north.

Yeah, Bangers is fab. We fantasise about living there some of the time when we're retired. we were there a couple of years ago at the end of 10 days in thailand, only for two nights. at dinner the first night we met a friend and his gf. she professed to love bangkok, had been several times. so we asked her what we should see beyond the big temple complex. "oh, there's really nothing to see in bangkok." turns out she liked the cheap 4* hotels and shopping. bah.

anyhoo, we've decided to spend 2 weeks in northern spain buying wine, with our car.
i've done the numbers. it is 12 hours driving through europe to the destination OR 30 hrs on the ferry. and it is less than 200 GBP to drive one way (especially if we take turns and go straight through) but 350 on the ferry one way.
the man has decided we should take the ferry there and drive back. i keep showing him the numbers, and he keeps muttering about taking the ferry. i'm not sure why he's obsessed with the ferry. it is annoying. i like a ferry, but i also like holding on to 150 quid.

That's expensive sprite, I'd want to hold on to the money too! Is that travelling in the school holidays?

Or an hour or 2 flying and then hire a car?

it's just before school holidays. the tickets are booked, but we're going to have to have one of our 'you earn significantly more than i do so either we travel skint or you pay more' which he always agrees to but it never seems to occur to him until i bring it up!! we will fill the car with booze, so flying would require excess charges. any recommends for navarre or rioja wine?

So far in 2015, I woke up January 1 in Washington DC, spent a month in Dallas, a long weekend in New Orleans, five weeks in Pensacola, Florida, and Mobile, Alabama, three months in Mexico City, and now I'm newly back in DC. I might go to Greece early in September, and then the Azores again in mid-autumn.

despite having no plans at the beginning of the year, we had a quick trip to Barbados in May (to visit family) and now are headed to France for 10 days. Quite envious of most of the travel plans that the rest of you have!

I started the year with a plan to go to London and Ghana. Then things rolled along and it's been: London, Ghana, Germany, Slovenia, Italy & Croatia.
Inside the US I've been to Las Vegas & Lake Tahoe. Planned for later this year are San Diego and New York (up north, not NYC). I'm still itching to do something else, but holiday time and bank balances say no.

I'm off to Tanzania (mostly Zanzibar) and Malawi in just over a week. Then there's a weekend in France with a friend planned for early September. At a push, my birthday trip by train from London to Moscow/St Petersburg might just shoe horn into 2015, but more likely the beginning of 2016.
Oh...and there could be a US trip in October!

I'm going to Singapore and Vietnam in November. I am very nervous as i haven't travelled in so long and just in general have lost confidence. I'm excited. ..but scared.
The above applies to vietnam really. Singapore doesnt bother me except for the possible cost!
