I have tentative plans to be there Sept 25-28. Any recommendations for areas to stay in the midst of the arts/music scene.
I think Hal will just be leaving then. Too bad. Anyone else around?
I am also open to suggestion if anyone else in a different city would want to meet up. I do not have to make it Berlin. My work trip ends in Paris.

We go from Berlin to Dresden on the 25th - so yes, will probably miss each other. We picked Prenzlauer Berg to stay, were also looking at the Kreuzkölln area. Rikita is from Berlin and was very helpful with suggestions.

Kreuzberg/Neukölln is where I'd stay for hip-artiness.
Avoid Friedrichshain (the area around warschauer Straße to Frankfurter Tor) at least to stay. It's full of drunk stag parties and Erasmus kiddies.
I may be here, but can't commit to anything in afraid for new-job and business travel reasons, but feel free to PM me with any questions or for specific recommendations.
One recommendation for both of you: make sure you visit the former airport of Tempelhof. You can now wander up the runway of the former Luftbrücke. The is a communal garden at one end and it's generally full of lots of people having a good time. I'm pretty sure you can also rent bikes and scooters and such (to keep LC amused).

And don't go to Mustafas Gemüsekebab, regardless of what the guidebooks tell you. It's all hype and the line is absolutely ridiculous.
