my dears, do any of you have a restaurant suggestion for Prague? Something nice, maybe with czech food? I can eat "international food" anywhere. A view would be great too. x

tree and i went somewhere nice, but all i can remember was that it was near Tyn church. it wasn't our first choice--the other was booked out. it had a little jazz band and the food was good.
cerny jelen is near Tyn church and the menu looks good.
i went to a pub near the old castle which was once a tax depot. i remember having soup and it was good. by the river, but no view.
i suspect that if you get a view, you'll be somewhere very touristy--there are several around Karlovy Most (charles bridge).
webs and Q might have better memories?

Definitely recommend U Fleku - it was the place we Figments plus EGB were sitting between rival tables of singing Russians and singing Italians. Much beer and merriment and really yummy Czech stodge (of the beef stew and dumplings variety). |

PS: It's definitely not a place for vegetarians!!!
A bit kitschy but we certainly had a good time, and ate (and drank!) very well!

it must have been here: ungelt jazz club and restaurantit was a nice find. we may have been aiming for maitrea on the same street. Hostinec na Výtoni is the pub i thought of. i wouldn't go there as a destination, but if you're visiting Vysehrad (the art deco church is stunning), this is a nice, 10 minute walk away, decent place for a drink and something light to refresh before getting back on the tram. |

I loved Kamparium in Mala Strana. One of the best steaks I've ever eaten, they had some good local wines and actually had some different beers. The cellar was fun to sit in. The staff were really lovely as well. No actual view though, just the pretty cellar inside. |

you may see a thing sold outside, looking like a large pancake or pizza base, with cheese on. eat this. ask for the garlic.
it's pronounced 'langOsh' and will undo any attempt at healthy eating from the last 3 yrs, but it is pretty damn good.

Oh, and a wonderful thing about Kamparium was that it is a non smoking restaurant.  And they do have the standard 'Czech specialties' as well as the steaks. Even the pizza places seemed to offer the "Czech Specialties" if you were in the Old Town or Mala Strana. |
