Last time I was there was 2006. We did the night market, the Star Ferry, the light show, Po Lin Monastery, went to Macau for 2 nights, and some other touristy stuff.
This time I'll be there for 6 nights. Am looking to do some hikes, gorge on seafood, find some quality coffee and basically be somewhere that's not India. Do any of you have a favorite area to explore, a great restaurant?
I don't care about shopping, but am more into the sights.

It's so many years since I've been to Hong Kong that my information would be useless. The places we walked out in what were then the New Territories out by Sai Kung have presumably been swallowed up in housing estates.
Enjoy.

Like whothingie my info would be out of date. Also, we did kids playgrounds and parks as part of our last trip there, probably places you'll be lucky enough to avoid!

I can't remember the name of the island now as it was quite a few years ago, but I just jumped on a ferry that took me out to a very small island out in the bay. It had a little village, a really cool cemetery and a few walking trails and that was about it. Spent a day enjoying the lack of hustle and bustle.

I spend my days at Disneyland when in Hong Kong!! Though this trip I am making him doing something else, like fabric shopping in Causeway Bay - TB will be over the moon with that experience. When are you going to be there?

Sounds like we all have outdated HK info. And Hal is correct, it's unlikely we'll be hanging out at any playgrounds. Parks maybe. Playgrounds no.
Poppy we should be there mid June.

I was there a couple of years ago but only for 2 days at the end of a long trip. I went up a cable car thing, I had lunch on the boat out on the harbour, I went to markets. And got basically no sleep because the hotel had the world's most uncomfortable bed.

go for a cocktail at the top bar (Ozone) at the RitzCarlton. pricey, but totally worth it to close off a night in Hong Kong, with an amazing view from the 118 floor.
other than that, I still want to go back once to see the buddha on Lantau island again. Hiking in the New Territories, or on the other side of Hong Kong island.
check with tzarine, I think she may have up to date information. my last trip was 2014, but mostly work with only a tiny bit of sightseeing.
