What an overpriced tourist trap! Not the charming place I ran around in w tzarevich as a lad! They charge entry for Parc Guell!!!!!!!
How do i avoid the lines, bad american spanish & segway tours?

It's peak season in S.Europe so to be expected.

I was about to say on the other thread....did you go there in mid August last time?
I didn't find it too bad outside the summer peak season. This must be about the worst couple of weeks in the year to be there.

leela we are just stopping over enroute home from mumbai & know we are in high season. love spain in off season. also used to live in burgos when tzar taught @ the summer program
it's not the same
tho we did find a little local resto for lunch & bought gift marmalade @ bonpreu, the catalan supermercat

I'm not saying that you should have avoided it. Just that Barcelona for the rest of the year, might be a lot closer to how you remember it.

There's a great viewpoint up in Montjuic near the Miro foundation. All the modernista art. Parc de Ciutadella (sp). Lots of cool bars in El Born (next to the gothic quarter).

yes to the views from montjuic! the corte ingles placa catalunya has great views of the city from the top floor foodcourt
of course, sagrada familia & parc guell (tho they charge for entry now!) for the gaudi hospital santa creu is gorgeous parc de ciutadella
