We are in the middle of massive painting work in our apartment block, including the railings on the balconies etc.
The past two days our neighbour's usually incredibly silent doggie has been barking. And so I was wondering aloud today (Clipper was home, so I wasn't totally talking to myself) "Why is Tiger barking so much, we usually never hear Tiger at all" only to giggle when I stopped to think that strangers climbing onto the balcony from ladders might actually trigger some barking.
It was one of those 'der, I am being so dumb' moments

You take a little train through the forest and then go make pottery? I would do that

1. My over-reaction to some very cute Highland Coo baby slippers. 2. The very fat pigeon trying to get onto an unstable bird feeder. (it's for sparrows, there's enough stability for them.) 3. This dog on a beach, walking to "Do the Hustle" Doggie Sashay

This woman at the shop I was returning trousers (code switching because some of you can't handle the use of the word "pants") giving me dirty looks because I was returning them for being too big despite my going down a size. Sorry you're miserable on a friday lady but I don't care. Then she rudely said they don't have the ones I was returning in the store in the smaller size so I have to order them online. And in doing so I got 30% off.

What’s wrong with pants?

Well our pants are different from your pants, or their pants.

Wait, what?! So "pants and underpants" is the majority view, and the only pants and trousers people are in England?

Not to mention "pants" in Brit English being a word for something that's not very good e.g. That new film I saw last week is complete pants. Don't bother with it.

Spawn's housemate has a fancy kettle that allows you to set it to heat water to different specifications: french press, pourover, green tea, black tea... it was pretty cool. But I can't imagine it was anywhere near $300, that's absurd.
OK, just found it: $100, which is £79.

we have one of those fancy kettles with the different temp settings, but there is no way we paid that much for it.

I didn't think so, but it was a fun gadget nonetheless.

Doesn’t all water boil at 100 C at sea level and standard atmospheric pressure? Sounds like another sales gimmick, like paracetamol or ibuprofen that targets a certain part of the body.

Yes, but it's about the fact that you're supposed to steep tea in boiling water (100°C) but pourover coffee at slightly less than boiling (97°C), green tea even cooler than that (85°C). So there are buttons for black tea, green tea, pourover, French press, etc.
A little excessive - with my electric kettle I've just always let it sit for a bit after it boils before I do the pourover. But I thought it was fun.

Who knew? Though I did know black tea needs really boiling water.

If you check the link it's always to their test site so they're easy to spot.
Today's was extra easy to spot...

Various wild animals being illogical. A fox scared out of its skin by a magpie calling. There are dozens of magpies around here, calling all the time!
Wood pigeon chasing off another wood pigeon from the bird seed I'd put on the walkway. Twice, and quite persistently. And then completely ignored the two city pigeons who showed up to have the seeds, even letting them finish the food!

The Canadian man interviewed on the ABC this morning, who is in the UK, to see the coronated King. Adam Hills’ reaction was pretty funny, too.
