er, alas only local for me. It was meant to be the year we all went back to the UK, but the dodginess of my health at the start of this year, the amount of time LC had off school last year, the fact we will be seeing River anyway and the state of the bank balance means only Clipper will be going to catch up with his people.
I am looking forward to a few days away with River and our mum at the Blue mountains in uly!

nothing really definite yet.
we were planning a weekend in Paris next month, but I think we've left it too late to organize properly. summer holiday will be mountains somewhere (so, Austria/Switzerland/France)
hoping for work travel: China & Japan. let's see if those happen....

Scotland later this month, Sardinia for a few days next month...that's been on my wishlist for ages so really looking forward to that.
Just booked a cheap week cycling in the south of Holland in July, an area we've been to many times but it feels really relaxed in summer (also love the Belgian beer cafe in the village where we stay).
Also is this year going really fast or is that just me?

Going home to Oz for 6 weeks in July, yippee! Otherwise no travel planned, need to save up all my money to move house once I get back to Germany after the summer.
The school is sending me to a training course in Berlin in October, which starts the weekend before a half term week off, so I'll be extending my stay and will have a few days in Berlin and surrounds, which is an unexpected bonus.

Planning Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan (or maybe Kyrgystan) in June/July. Later in the year has lots of possibilities, but no decisions have been made yet. I'm certainly hoping to make the most of my full first calendar year of retirement.

2018 could be the first in 15 years that I don't go outside N. America.
That is a depressing thought...

This year I'm having two holidays - I've already been on one to Sri Lanka in March, and then in late October / November we're off to Thailand.
And we might get in a long weekend in Melbourne again. Maybe.

2018 could be the first in 15 years that I don't go outside N. America. That is a depressing thought... Cross your fingers, it looks like I may be able to swing Ireland in September. It's definitely not a new or exotic location, but it really is my happy place so if it comes together I'll be all skippy.

Oooh leela!
Next year is shaping up - I'm going to Baja California Sur in March, and then I need to meet up with my mom in Southampton in May to join her on her way home on the QM2, so I'm now thinking of UK/Scotland plans! There's also a dragonfly meeting in Texas in July that I'm thinking of going to.
Until then I'm pretty much going nowhere except Maine in September to help Spawn out post-surgery.

I’m already planning my trip to Africa next year. Still a rough draft.

Nothing out of Australia for us this year unfortunately. We are waiting until CrazyKitten turns 3 until we take him long haul.
We did a trip to the Gold Coast when my parents were here in June and we bought a camper trailer just before winter so we have a few long weekends and Christmas booked on the NSW coast.

Booking a trip to a rather isolated lodge in the middle of the great bear rainforest for next August. Yes, I am thinking far ahead.. most unusual!

Portugal - eat the food, drink the wine, walk the (cobbled) streets, eat the gelados!!!!, walk (some of) the Portuguese Way in the north, avoid Sintra, buy some shoes/boots. Top tip - there is more to little sweet treats than pasteis de nata (although one of these a day is acceptable - don't bother queuing for the "famous" shop - anywhere that bakes them bakes them beautifully - my favourite was from a little bakery around the corner of our apartment in Lisbon).
Me this year (oh, and Dr W3 :-)) Sri Lanka (been) Melbourne (been) Thailand (coming up in late October / early November)

Woo I'm taking the train to Philadelphia on Tuesday and going to a museum and wandering around town a bit and then taking the train back again.
Kind of ridiculously expensive for a day trip that has no express purpose, but I don't have time to properly go out of town right now and am getting antsy.

I think I found the workshop I want to do at La Meridiana. It's in May.
Tuscany in May.
Flying however, requires a change of planes.
Has anyone ever changed planes in Madrid?

Booked for a general naturalist tour around Baja California del Sur, Mexico next March, which isn't just about nature, it's also about staying in lovely hotels on the beach and eating good food. Super. psyched.
