I loved the old Christmas films made many years ago, many long before I was born like White Christmas, Holiday Inn, and my all time favourite Miracle on 34th Street. Some idiot thought it would be good to colourise that last one, but it was not - the original B/W had so much more character. And Edmund Gwenn made a lovely Santa.
Netflix has been proudly sporting many Christmas type movies and after watching so many that instead of dollar signs my eyes now have candy canes, I can honestly say those old films of long ago are so much better than most of the Netflix lot.
Although, I did watch a set of 3 which weren’t too bad. The Claus Family (Dutch: De Familie Claus) is a 2020 Dutch-Belgian film directed by Matthias Temmermans, written by Matthias Temmermans and Ruben. Followed by The Claus Family 2 (2021) and The Claus Family 3, 2022.

We just watched Christmess, a new Australian Christmas movie. A friend's rellie is one of the stars in it, which is how I found out about it.
I enjoyed it, but it is certainly anti Hallmark.

I'll be watching Pride and Prejudice - the TV series. I don't think Christmas features but it's pretty to look at and has a happy ending and that's where my brain is at!

Three nuts for Cinderella... OMG that's an absolute cult here too. Plus, after the news last night, we both screeched in horror when the opening credits for Little Lord Fauntleroy came up. Why, Germany, why?!

I usually watch It’s A Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve. That is my limit. I know the lines practically.

I usually watch It’s A Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve. That is my limit. I know the lines practically. I was at a meeting the other day where there was a panel of people talking about providing affordable housing in this community, and one of the guys went on for quite a while about how "It's a Wonderful Life" is basically all about affordable housing financing and provision.

Best Christmas movies top 3 in order: Muppets Christmas Carol Die Hard The Holiday
Honourable mentions to Love Actually (yes, it hasn't aged well. No, I don't care), its a wonderful life, while you were sleeping, Home Alone.
I'm firm in my convictions on this. But I've never actually seen Elf, and I will concede people love it.

"Last Holiday" because I dream of spending a week at a spa in the presidential suite eating all sorts of amazing food and having enough money to buy a whole glamorous wardrobe.
"All Mine To Give" for a good cry
And whatever Doctor Who and Call the Midwife episodes are being celebrated.

I couldn’t find any good Christmas movies even on Netflix. I mean, there’s watchable and there’s watchable. The old Christmas movies of long ago were so much better than the stupid crummy ones they make now! The most “modern” ones like The Ref were good but no one streams it anymore. I’m over Home Alone but would probably watch it if it was on. There’s just nothing doing and I have Netflix! Operation Christmas Drop you can only see once per season. A labour of love was the three in a series with Kurt Russell.

I watched 'The King's Speech' (Geoffrey Rush, Colin Firth) even though it's got nothing to do with Christmas.

Our family watches 'Home Alone' every year. We also used to watch 'Ernest Saves Christmas' regularly, but somehow my 22 yr old nephew has never seen it! I told off his grandfather.
