Some five or so weeks ago, I went with my gd to a bra sore that specialises in plus size bras. The fitter was very good and finding a bra that was “the one”, I bought three. I hadn’t had a bra that fitted properly for a few years. I found that bra online in a bra fitters which has a large online store and it was in the pale ar ice blue called “Alaska”. Alaska is the name of the colour. This colour isn’t included anywhere else and I’ve an idea it is one of those colours which are made as “specials each season. Not one of their standard colours. I really would love to buy this. Do you think four bras is too many? It is a little cheaper Nat the moment as the company has a discount of 20% for your first online order. I should also add, the bras I purchased are 26G, the pretty ice blue bra is 26FF. I doubt there would be too much difference between those two cup sizes. Attachment Deleted

Depends on your lifestyle. If you wear strapless ballgowns and translucent tops and go to the gym and run every day and go on lots of sexy dates, you might need 20.
Me, I have three normal ones: one to wear, a clean one as backup, and last week's in the laundry hamper, plus two sport bras for the gym. Three normal bras are perfectly adequate for a normal, non-fabulous person.

I’ve read that the elastic in bras lasts longer if one has several bras and rotate them. I did that a couple of years ago. After the lockdown, my bras were in dreadful shape so I bought 7 and rotate them. I wash them every few months. The elastic has held up remarkably well.

Huh! But how do you keep track of which ones are which, sophie? Seems like one might need a bra spreadsheet.

Just put the clean ones at the back of the bunch and they'll work their way forward. This is not a precision task, no penalty for mistakes.

Sophie, you said you wash them every few months. Do you find that enough and do you wash by hand?

I find that’s enough as typically I wear them only for about 5 or 6 hours a day.. and these days, with my knee being shot, I don’t do anything which will lead to perspiration! My main exercise is swimming and obviously no bras on then. I usually wash them in our washer on a delicate cycle. When I was more active, I’d wash them much more frequently!

Not being able to make up my mind about buying a fourth bra, I have left it in Limbo. Given time, I will probably forget about it

I have two t-shirt type bras that I alternate between and two sports bras. I also need large sizing and have been meaning to make a trip to a specialised store for a while, but it is quite a drive from where I live so it's hard to find the time.

I understand all too well, Crazycat. Women with pinheads are so lucky!

I did buy the bra. The pale blue is so pretty, nice colour to wear under my dresses.

What is a pinhead?
I have 1 sports bra and 3 normal ones, but only wear them when going out and wearing a t-shirt or tight jumper, or off to the gym. Small breast in general (I think B cup, fitters think C-D which I find hilarious), and since I'm lifting weights the pectoral muscles keeps them where they should be. So much more comfy! I can go happily for long walks without a bra, so it's really only about appearance, eg when wearing a t-shirt.
In Barbados I gave up on washing them, as I was sweating so much that it kind of made no difference anyway if they were frelshy washed or not. All mine don't have wires (they are evil) so go in the normal wash.
psw - I do the same with jeans, thermal tops and undies - always put freshly washed at the bottom (or hang up jeans to the right) and use them from the top (or jeans from the left).

Most important is NOT to put bras in the dryer. It ruins the elastic and drastically shortens their useful life.

Pinheads for boobs means they have practically nothing. It’s like putting watermelons next to grapes!

What a flattering way of describing small breast. I definitely have something - just in a smaller size.

Yesterday I tried on a bra that had been lost in the drawer. It was so tight I had to cut it off. It had a lot of potential but strangulation is not comfortable.
