The boxes my watches came in are long since gone. I did keep the Kate Spade one from New York, but the daughter when she was over last year helping to “de clutter” said I didn’t need it and threw it out. I have five watches plus another one I haven’t yet used - I bought it about two years ago and forget where I put it! Anyway, back to the point of this post, I have one of those standing mirror/jewellery cabinets. The watches are on one of the shelves which is not ideal, it’s alright for earrings and maybe bangles and long necklaces on the inside door, but that’s it. I thought of getting a watch box, most of which are designed to hold six watches - some hold more. What is your opinion of this? Below is a mirror/jewellery item similar to the one I bought many years ago, although mine doe not had the drawers.

I don't own any watches - I have a phone. Why would someone need to have a place to store watches? I'm completely baffled. Just use a box?

I keep my watches (which I seldom use these days) in a drawer. I have 4 of 5 of them, some are special because they were inherited. One is special because I bought it as a present to myself (it’s a Gucci) and another was used for diving when I used to do that sort of stuff.

Oh actually I do have a lovely (nonworking) gold dress watch that was my great-grandmother's. I wear it on those rare occasions when I'm dressing up despite its nonworking status. It's in a box with the rest of the bracelets that I never wear.
I tried to get it fixed but the jeweler said it would cost me $500, and "why not just get yourself an Apple watch," was literally what he said.

I have two watches; the gold one that my parents gave me when I was a teenager (probably gold plated) and then an art nouveau-style marcasite watch that was my grandmother's. I keep both of them in the bottom drawer where infrequently used jewellery lives.
Is this an excuse for shopping, Phar?

Seeing your spelling of "jewellery" reminds me that my mom was reading something that had it spelled like that and spluttered at me about how no one knows how to spell anymore, so I had to gently inform her that we're probably the only English-speaking country that doesn't spell it like that.

I have only one watch. It's on my wrist when I'm up and about and on top of my jewellery box when I'm in bed, maybe in a pocket if I'm doing dishes.

Is this an excuse for shopping, Phar? No, actually it isn’t. I’m tired of my watches touching and knocking other metallic bits and bobs, they need to be stored properly when not being worn. I am the sort of person who always wears a watch when leaving home. In my Mother’s Day it was a hat, for me it is a watch. I never go anywhere without a watch. Yes, I have a mobile phone, but it isn’t the same. Cannot go out without a watch.

I keep mine (old one, 2 that were gifts but now out of date) in my hankie drawer in their boxes. If I didnt have the boxes I coupld wrap them in spare handkerchiefs - and maybe that would work for you, Phar.
I wear my watch all the time except when sleeping and showering.

I have several dead watches* that are stored with my jewellery and one I wear.
*I do something to watches and they die, replacing the batteries doesn't work.
My grandma had the same problem and wore a broach watch instead.

I have boxes of crap. Many in there. Nothing special. I think that the last time I wore one was traveling in Ecuador.

Watches, plural? Does not apply. I have one, and its battery is dead.

I have a watch that I haven't worn since before 2000. It's a fossil watch I bought in London in '96 when I was on my first international trip and I realized I didn't have a watch. So I went into Harrods on my first day and I bought a cute watch. And that was my souvenir of my first trip to London.
And I'd beat the fuck out of anyone who told me I should throw away any Jewelry because it took up space.

I had a few old dead watches (maybe 3). They were all stolen when we were broken into a year or so ago. They were in a drawer.
My apple watch is either on my wrist or on the charger.
I'm finding I'm starting to declutter - the break in helped!

I have one,I wear it. It is also my running watch but if I didn't have that I'd probably still have a plain watch. I have no concept of time so I want to be able to check easily and not be relying on my phone or other places I might not have immediate access to.

I have to wear a watch and I really want to buy another couple of dressy but practical watches. I have 3 Fossil watches in the Jacqueline style, one is a smaller face the others are two larger ones. Also have a nice tissot watch that I need to replace the strap on (it's a bit...mannish?). And a cute omega pocket watch which I need to get a string or lanyard for to either clip on to my skirts or wear around my neck.

When I was in Switzerland for work, I always looked at the Swatches in the airport but never bought one. I am going through a period of not wanting things on my wrists. Before some point I never went out without an arm load. Not sure what changed. I have a vintage watch on a chain for around your neck that belonged to my aunt. I ought to put it on occasionally.

I bought a Swatch at the airport the first time I went to London in 1992 or so. It was cool looking, but INCREDIBLY LOUD, to the point where I couldn't keep it in the bedroom because it kept me awake!

We were given a Swatch in 2000 as a thank you for being volunteers at the Sydney Olympics. It has long since stopped. Since then I bought cheap $10 watches from Big W. For the last few years, I haven’t worn one, as I always have my phone.

Well you may all be interested to know, I bought a watch box today. Not the cheapest one, if I’m going to outlay money it has to be for something I really, really like, and so, I chose the champagne coloured leather box.

I recently upgraded my earring holder to one which is less fiddly to get the earrings on and off but also has a little bottom shelf part. It sits on my dressing table. I own my apple watch which is always on my wrist or on charge and I have one dressy watch which is quite expensive that I bought from the manufacturer sale as they had the office next to mine a few years ago. I rarely wear that one now unless we are going camping off grid and I won't be able to charge my apple watch.

I decided to return the box. Haven’t lost any money fortunately. Pity common sense didn’t reign earlier.

Good on you! I am not a watch wearer - I hate having anything on my wrist. But would have suggested to just wrap them up and put them in a draw or so - hat's what I do with the few pieces of jewellery I own and never wear.
