So I decide I'm going to take the express bus in and go wander around to see the Easter Parade. For those who have seen the movie, yes it is a real thing. People get dressed up, don beautiful outfits with fabulous hats and walk up and down 5th Avenue.
The bus in was easy. But I decided to go to MoMA first. Lovely, enoyed myself to exhaustion. Bought myself a pretty umbrella as a treat (I have gift cards). Had a delicious lunch with dessert. Really just exhausted myself.
And then I decide to go home. And Guess what, the bus isn't running back in that direction, so I go and take the subway home and low and behold, it's not running local.
At this point my knees and hips are burning. So I take it to the closest express stop, but I have to walk up the stairs because the elevator is out.
Because WHY SHOULD THE FUCKING MTA WORK ON A GODDAMNED WEEKEND WHEN PEOPLE MIGHT WANT TO USE PUBLIC TRANSIT TO GO DO THINGS.
THis is why I have a car. This is why I hate the subway. AAAAAAAARRRRRGH.

Oh that is incredibly frustrating. Metro is screwed up here too. Heaven forbid they actually put any MONEY into public transit to make sure the damn thing works.

There's a reason I don't go to do fun things on the weekend. I generally have more trouble getting home than it's worth.
I'm in so much pain now.

I feel ya. Our public transport is replaced with buses on the weekend so holidays. It's an absolute shit show sometimes. Over the summer I was spending 3 hours plus a day travelling. I felt exhausted.
It just makes everything that much harder being sore too. It becomes quite overwhelming just doing something that is such a simple thing for everyone else.

Yeah, the words 'track work' and rail replacement bus fill me with dread. Thankfully I'm at a hub where I can usually do regular bus or rivercat as back up options.
Hope the pain isn't too bad

Hope the pain isn't too bad It would be fine if there were replacement shuttle buses. There aren't. What they want is for you to go to the next express stop and then back track in the other direction. And then when you get to the stop you aren't even able to exit at the closest exit to you... It's just become a huge hassle that seems to go on forever.

It continued this week. They updated the app which wasn't broken. Tuesday, cold, wet, 2 canceled busses, no notification.
Today, Cold, cranky, don't feel well, 2 canceled busses, no notifications. I called 511 and just cried my frustration to the woman who answered, also because I was shocked to get a live human.
This afternoon, again the fucking app...
I can't even.
