Ozz. Thats insane, but so typical. Sending bunches of get Your act together thoughts to those messing you round, and a severe dose of retribution to those kids.

I would argue that the insurance company needs to either transport you to the car, or the car to you, at their expense, if they refuse to cover the cost of the local rentals.
Mine: I'm sitting in the living room to be warm and enjoy the sun, but it is right in my eyes while I'm trying to type.

I was meant to be getting my hair cut tomorrow - it really needs it, I'm growing the colour out and so the last cut was really short. It's reached the shaggy dog length now in places. But I had a call from the salon today to say my hairdresser had just tested positive for Covid, and I can't get another appointment for 3 weeks.

duolingo occasionally gives me a 3 day free preview of super duolingo when i reach a certain streak. so, this happened yesterday as i reached a 200 day streak. as i didn't have much time, i decided to only start the preview today - but when i opened it today, the preview was gone.

this morning while opening my natural greek yoghurt, i caught my fingerpads on the foil inner lid. now i'm desperate to wash my hair and have a shower, but it's soooo painful when the water hits the cuts. and i did pretty much the same thing 2 wks ago. i learn fast. I got a cut under my fingernail trying to open the plastic seal on a bottle of mixed herbs. I know how you feel. this is a feeling i know all too well

And also - it's going to be hot over the weekend - and it's not summer any more. Those are degrees celcius - around 100 in the old numbers. Attachment Deleted

found a book collection that a. really wants on e-bay, zero bids so was hoping to get it for her for easter - but now someone else has started bidding, too, so i suppose it will go up to the normal price of those books (which is too much for an easter present) ...

More on the car saga. I called the designated repairer to see if I could collect the things that are still in the car. He hasn’t got it yet. I’m not sure whose job it is to get it to him. Then I called the insurance on the number on yesterday’s message, which is when I realised it had been automatically assigned to write offs, because it was stolen. Apparently it is rare to get one back in decent condition. Eventually got a call back from a much nicer young man who said he would put in an order for a rental car, and also told me that Avis had had computer glitches a couple of weeks ago. I still haven’t heard anything from Avis. I’m not holding my breath.

Wow ozzie, what an incredibly convoluted pain in the ass. At least the writeoff thing explains why they were so slow to get anything to you - they probably figured you were just going to use the insurance money as downpayment on a new car, not wait around for the old one.

It also explains a bit the person who insisted on telling me what happens when the car is written off, causing totally unnecessary panic and stress.

I have a regular dinner with 2 friends.
One of them refuses to use WhatsApp and instead we make arrangements by email. But she also repeatedly forgets to "reply all", leaving one or other of us out of the email chain and complicating the planning still further...

I SWEAR the librarians wait for me to pick up a hold book and then sneak the next hold book up onto the shelf. It happens every time-- I pick one up and then get a notice from the library that the next one is ready. Jeez

we cut back a particular shrub right down to stumps, which are fox colour, in an area where there are often foxes.
So every time we look out the window, we think we see a fox, and then are disappointed.

New purse.
My old one, which I have used for a dozen years or so, finally tore. The fabric had been getting too shiny for a while so it was no surprise. So for the first time in my life I bought a new purse online. I'm sure it will work out eventually. It's as similar to the old one as I can find after checking many reliable websites. I have no energy to be running around. It has now been sitting on my shelf for over a week as I contemplate how to use the somewhat different configuration, plus it's sort of saying bye-bye to a trusty old friend.
Yes, I'm being bizarre about it. Too many things are changing too fast. I'm losing it. Also it doesn't help that the fifth (!!!) anniversary of Mr.W's death is just around the corner. Amazing how the brain works, or doesn't, and how wires get crossed.

Hugs, psw. I understand.. having had way too much change in my life the past three years, I wish I didn’t! I think as one ages, it takes longer to feel comfortable with new stuff (in my case it was our house and a mess of associated things).

Hugs psw. My first world problem relates to a handbag too. The other day I noticed that the place where the strap connects to my handbag was wearing out. So, having a 3-hour slot this morning when I needed to be out of the house, while the cleaner and estate agent were here, I went to the dreaded shopping mall, as I would be early enough to get a good park. I had breakfast first, then headed to the handbag and luggage shop, which had advertised a sale. It was closed, at 9.23, despite the website saying it should be open. I wasn’t the only annoyed person. Fortunately a friend came along and told me there was a stall selling bags on the other side of the mall, which I wasn’t aware of. I found a suitable bag there for about half the price I would have paid in the brand name store.

I am so tired of computers "helping" me write things... I used to find the autocomplete function helpful and time-saving, but one day I'd just had enough of it and now I swear I'm going to start writing things by hand.

update: I have transfered things, minus some trash, to the new purse, in what I think will be an efficient use of its pockets and zippers. We'll see what happens when I leave the house with it starting tomorrow. Who, me, starved for adventure?

I don't mean Actual Writing, I mean like memos and things. This afternoon I wrote the draft of something I was going to write in a card on a piece of paper because Text Edit tried to autocomplete it. TEXT EDIT, ffs
The thought of having my heartfelt greeting card notes coauthored by Text Edit is nauseating.
