Hurrah! As secretly hoping for, my friend suggested we stay the night on our way through to Italy. I had my fingers crossed as accommodation on Easter Monday night in Switzerland is even more expensive than it is normally.
I've also just booked accommodation for one night on our way back home - just across the border in Alsace instead of in the Swiss city of Basel. The price difference for a hotel with breakfast included is nearly 40% just by crossing the border into France. Crazy place, Switzerland!

Yes, delicious, but not exotic to River as Flammkuchen, as we call them, are very common here too!

Yes, Flammkuchen very common here and PG makes his own and it is the BEST! I don't know how he manages to get the pastry so wafer thin and crispy.

In the past we could keep our work laptops for free after they had been written off – so every 2.5 years I got a newish free laptop (the specs were much higher than what I would buy myself).
Then we got told this won’t happen anymore as they now lease the laptops. But – hey – they found a way around it and we can now “buy” them for £100 salary sacrifice – aka as a benefit so all I will pay is the tax over £100 split over a year. They opened it up as a lottery – and I just got my newish laptop to take home and set up. Which is great as my old one barely holds battery charge anymore!
So I guess that’s making me happy. And TBH I am not sure I trust the “random lottery” selection – I know M in IT for 15 years and we are good mates, and he knew my laptop was dying and said he will look if he can find an old battery for mine…and then I got a newish one – a bit too good to be true😊

Watching European shows - they take nudity different to the prudish English speaking countries. Watching the male and female lead enter the men’s dressing room of the Soccer Team, nothing is covered up and I do mean nothing! Every inch of skin is shown in all its glory! Not a bad thing to see at six o’clock in the morning as you sip your first cuppa of the day.

Ran into a friend who had moved to West Virginia and was in town for the weekend, which was great because I'd been intending to email her that I/we will be going through her town on the way to the dragonfly meeting in June. Happy to catch up, and also now that info has been conveyed and we're both looking forward.

I took all my collected glass bottles back to the recycle point today.
Been meaning to do that since before Chrissie.
Now lying on the couch with a purring furry friend - she's been insanely active all afternoon, so she'll probably sleep for the next 19 hours.

We get 10c per bottle or can, but I don’t have enough to justify a trip to the recycling place. I’ve discovered my teenage gardener makes pocket money taking the family’s bottles and drink cans to the recycling, so I give all mine to him.

We get nothing on glass, but there is "statiegeld", a deposit, on some plastic bottles and we can get that back. I have some of those, but that's just a supermarket trip so much easier.
I aslo have some clothes and some books to donate, and a dead microwave that I don't know what to do with (actually it still works but the inner layer has bubbled up so it's probably not safe anymore)

Friends. There’s a light on on the dashboard of the borrowed car, and a friend who is much more familiar with Fords than I am troubleshooted it for me. It appears to be nothing to worry about.

My dad is home again. He had a (relatively quick) visit to the local hospital because of a chest infection. He spent most of last year in and out of hospital. But now he has been home since mid November so a quick visit, Sunday to today is reason to be happy.
