Being homesick for the amazing place I stayed at in Barbados - and planning a return trip in autumn. happy that I found this place that really got under my skin (in a good way) and I can think my way back to it and find tranquility and happiness right away.

Got my ring back from the jewellers as I lost a small diamond when one claw broke. It was all polished and so sparkly. Like new!

Tried booking the car hire again, and it must have been some glitch on the weekend with the website. It worked today, so I was able to book with the discount.

Junior rang not long ago to check if I was alright in this heat wanting to know how I was managing. He has done this a number of times when we have horrible hot weather. Bless him.

So a friend drove me to Ballina to pick up a rental car. They ordered a Corolla, but when we got there, the woman in the Avis office said they no longer have Corollas, as the boot in the new model is too small for people’s luggage. They gave me a Yaris Cross hybrid instead. I’m delighted, because that’s what my own car is.

In Miami once I ordered a "compact" car. They gave me a Chrysler Newport, one of those 1960s Yank Tanks with an engine at both ends and wings. It was something of a change from my VW1200, but I survived and it was fun in the end. There was room for all of our cabin trunks, suitcases and assorted luggage and we could probably have fitted in a refugee Cuban family as well had one had asked.

I spent more than $200 on petrol for the borrowed car in 2 weeks. My hybrid uses about $50 worth in a fortnight. One of the reasons I don’t like big cars!

I think I have a pair of Song Thrush in my garden. It's been a couple of years, and I really love them. I mean, it might be Mistle Thrush or RedWings--damn things were very hidey.
But I'm hopeful!

Woo hoo! I have an official exemption not to have to do the stupid language test as part of my citizenship application!!! That saves me €155 and a heap of hassle - the earliest test I could have registered for would not have been until December!!!

Once again it's March Mammal Madness, where some biologists research scenarios of what would happen if individuals of two different species ended up in the same habitat - would they fight, or ignore each other, or what. It's always a lot of fun, and has lots of supporting documentation available so that elementary school teachers can get their classes to participate, and pero and I love it. ANYWAY, the problem is that I'd hoped it would move to Bluesky from Xitter this year, but it didn't.
So I decided to create summary reports as it was happening on Bluesky for people who've left Xitter. I've done that twice now, and it's been really fun.
And anyway: what's making me happy is that a lot of the biologists who write the material found my posts on Bluesky and really liked them, and they're all following me now.
