I used to talk politics all the time. Then I stopped. Well, fuck it, here it goes.
I'm listening to a new Republican Senator talk on NPR, and I want to reach through the radio and punch him.
Damn it, I miss being fired up about something. Here in Oregon, people are either goofy-liberal or complacent. In Bend most people are either Libertarian-raw milk-wierdos or complacent conservatives.

Yep. If those sorts of Reps weren't so dangerous I would actually feel sorry for them since collectively they have the IQ of a nematode.

Well, at least I can be smug about how the 2012 elections went. Coming out on the side of rapists didn't do the GOP any favors.

I was so, so, soooo proud of my state (MN) after the elections. The only mark against us was that those looneys in District 6 re-elected Bachmann- even if it was just by a hair. That woman needs to go.

My new home state generally does the right thing, so no surprises in Oregon.
I was very proud of Virginia, though. I went back for the election and I had a great, fantastic, fun, exciting time. I was there when Sen. Kaine won, I was there when he announced that Obama won. The room was going nuts. Good times.
Honestly, that was the second time in 10 years of political organizing that I felt that way, and the last time I was at the Marriott in Richmond, too.

"I was so, so, soooo proud of my state"
That's how I felt about mine too. First that we got enough power back on in time to have elections properly, and then we elected all people I like, and didn't allow ourselves to be just bought off by mean rich people...I was very happy that day, despite my personal life still being upside-down from the storm.

I was so, so, soooo proud of my state (MN).... Me too - we (MD) passed a gay marriage initiative, ha! But fully in agreement about Bachmann - appalling.

Come to think of it I've felt very proud (is that even the right word?) of all our elected officials this past month, it's weird as a resident of a usually invisible state to see your politicians on the national news for weeks on end, and I think they've all done a very good job.

I have to admit that when I heard Chris Christie had won govenor I sent my Jersey friends a sympathy card, but he's a right old tough son of a bitch and knows when to stand up and say what's what.
Romney never did show up in any of the East Coast states, did he.

Chris Christie is that guy who I disagree with on many levels, but if I had an emergency he'd be one of the first calls.
I had a friend like that in Virginia. He was a right-wing, gun-toting, conservative nutjob, but was always the first person to help out in an emergency. Or a non-emergency, like when a bitch of a customer threw her coffee cup at me because I wasn't fast enough making her daughter's fancy coffee drink.

I usually want to punch Chris Christie, yeah he sometimes criticizes his own party and that's admirable but he seems to be a pretty crap governor, and he gets attention all out of proportion to his merits. But then again we have an inferiority complex over here;-)
