My daughter is turning nine this Saturday, and Im throwing her very first party (we dont do kids parties here much). There will be approx 12 kids there ranging from 5-10 years. Have you got any ideas for finger food for this bunch? Thanks in advance.

nope, sorry no idea - kids today eat better and fancier than kids did when mine where that age. One suggestion, have a few bottles of wine for when they leave, you will need it!!

butterscotch popcorn would be nice. if you go for the decorating cupcake idea, I think you need soft icing instead of buttercream - with soft icing they can draw on it as well - non toxic pens are okay to use.

Maybe wrong time of the year but could the kids make their own icecream sundaes? Get some bottles with choc sauce, caramel etc plus a selection of different sprinkles. Cup of vanilla icecream per child and let them go for it.

Thanks for your ideas, ladies! Actually, I have thought about getting the kids decorate theit own gingerbread men and shapes - it s a tradition here this time of the year! I was thinking maybe mini wiener schnitzels, pizza snails, popcorn, veggie sticks, and some traditional Christmas cookies, cake and sausage rolls. How does it sound? I will be ordering lots of various types of pizza for the adults so Im guessing the extra fussy rugrats might feed on that too. And wine. Rivers of wine.

Oh sorry for not coming back sooner but I finished cleaning the house only last night. Ugh. It all went extremely well with pizza snails, popcorn and crisps for the kids, and mini schnitzels and mixed veggie/charcuterie/cheeses platters for adults. Both cakes were delicious, and the ginger men decorating idea was a huge success. (The subsequent cleaning not so much ). Round Two in February. This time with kids between 5-8.
