I got a kindle fire present for Christmas. It feels nice, can use it for accessing the fig(!) and all the rest of it but it is rapidly becoming a PITA. I can't download any of the apps, movies or magazines because of "geographical restrictions". As it was a present I don't want to complain but it is starting to piss me off. Come on Amazon -sort your sh!t out.

I'm not sure where you live, but this issue was raised by someone on TT a few months ago. I did a bit of googling and found that even though you can buy them here in Oz, they are pretty much useless because of the content restrictions.

Sorry, should have put in, I'm in Ireland. Hardly outer reaches of the world!

Thanks for posting this! was thinking of buying one when/if in NYC but will keep in mind your remark. Will be a Galaxy Tab2 instead.

Mr hobo has a nexus and is really happy with it, but he doesn't use it as an ereader so not sure what the ereader functionality is like.

I have a galaxy tab2 which is great for on the go office use and acces to internet etc. Specially with the keyboard docking thing I got with it. For reading , I still prefere my Sony e-reader. The tab is too big to use. Not comfortable in hands and to obvious in public transport, plus the pages are too bright for me and I can't find everything I can for the Sony. But that's probably a technical error of my own, too complicated for me to figure out how this bookshelf on the samsung works.

i have a kindle which is registered in the uk, but i've downloaded stuff while in canada and in south east asia, no problem. it's all paid for on my uk credit card, not sure if that applies.
i did find that i couldn't download amazon.uk mp3s while in canada, for geographical restrictions.
