Huh, why did I remember FEBO being pink? Fascinating.

Either way we didn't have them when I was growing up.
Fun fact FEBO is named after the street is started on; FErdinand BOlstraat, which is named after Ferdinand Bol, who was a painter in the time of Rembrandt. In fact he studied under Rembrandt and for a while some of Bol's paintings were attributed to Rembrandt.

Never tried FEBO anytime I have been in Amsterdam.

DutchCookie took me to FEBO, almost apologetically, but like "you must do this once if you are to say you have been in Amsterdam."

You know you're old when you hear an ad on the radio to submit your comments to a taxi working group and think 'I'll do that!'

Well I'll confess I thought an automat was something like a laundromat, and then got completely confused when the discussion morphed into the choco nut counter!
We certainly didn't have anything like that. But we did have the drive-in.
But we did have Boans department store that had a hot cashew nut counter! I always went there and spent my pocket money when I visited my grandmother and we went to the big town by train for a day out.

And, of course, drive-in movies! Happiest patrons: young couples with kids asleep in the back seat, teenage couples looking for privacy Many had food service, too.

When you have to explain to people that "Free Range parenting" is how most people over the age of 40 grew up.

Noticed when talking to someone today- after a certain undefined age, you no longer fall over, instead you have a fall.

Nostalgic articles about “old” buildings that you remember being built Some of them used to be landmarks and focal points. Told someone yesterday... Where the Post Office is only to remember it moved to one of the small shopping centres a couple of months ago and he would have been about 1km away from his destination.

hm, here most structures are wooden at playgrounds, but i rarely have any problem with splinters ... seesaws aren't at every playground, but they are at least at some ...

Oops, due to advanced age I posted the following in the wrong thread last night. It meant to go here:
You know how there's always an old woman at work who's kind of cool, kind of weird? Today I realized that I'm now that kind of cool, kind of weird old woman in my office.

You discover that one of your old lecturer’s kids who was born the year you graduated from Uni, is now doing the same course you took at Uni 😱

You nickname someone at work "the child", because of a demonstrated lack of maturity. You never say this name aloud.
You find out that you are old enough to be their mother, and that's without a teenage pregnancy.

you remember paying for a ride on the staten island ferry I remember this. The first time I visited NYC in 1992 we had to pay. We did this rather than a tourist boat because we thought we were too cool for organised tours
