what can I do with them?? I have about four of these at home, I think they're called turnips right? have been looking for some recipes, but not finding anything that makes me think 'yumm!'. any ideas?

One way. I used to cook them was to boil until fairly soft, drain. Meanwhile cook onions and spices (as in curry spices) in butter, add the soft turnip and continue cooking until turnips are mushy and infiltrated with spices and onion and butter.. Add fresh parley or cilantro..and serve. I also like adding them to veggie soups.

that sounds nice - what do you serve them with though? it's not a meal on its own right?
i ended up making a kind of veggie stew - though it stayed much too watery so only a mixed success....

I adore turnips.
1) chop them into small dice, mix with other vegetables, toss with olive oil and sea salt and pepper, roast. 2) add to lentil soup 3) find a recipe for the south Indian dish turnip poriyal, which is a dry-fried spicy thing with coconut and curry leaves that is phenomenal. (I've only had it at a restaurant.)
