A trailer full of hay caught on fire up in the country about 40 miles from here. I wanted to see what a trailer full of hay that's on fire looks like since in the article where pero found out about this the fire had already been put out, so I did a search for "truck full of hay on fire" and there have been TONS of recent instances of trucks full of hay on fire in this country!
It looks like it happens all the time; I had no idea.

When I dropped into another branch of the library on the weekend I discovered they had a seed library. You can take home a packet of seeds once a month and plant them to try grow your own fruit and veg. I had no idea they offered this. Feel like they should advertise it a bit more. And if you donate some seeds from your crop you can take home another packet.
cool service.

I can't remember the department, but it's the university of Edinburgh. Sadly, only university members can join the plant library, but i wonder if other places have them, too?

There were a whole lot of cicadas yesterday in one part of the Sacred Grove in Palmyra, NY, where Joseph Smith had his first vision.

The title Le Violon d'Ingres is a French idiom that means "hobby” and seems to suggest that, while playing the violin was Ingres's hobby, toying with Kiki was a pastime of Man Ray. thought it was this photo en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Violon_d%27Ingres

Not to click on the links of other people - either they don’t work or I can’t read them or they’re not what I thought they’d be.

Oriental persimmons are self fertile but with the American variety you need both male and female plants if you wish to produce fruit.

re: elephant and suburban lawn:
My friend was an avid gardener. The circus came to town one spring. When they were packing up to leave for the next stop, she took some barrels down to the circus grounds and brought home a huge load of elephant manure. She grew the most incredibly huge and tasty tomatoes she'd ever seen!

Our weather hasn’t been typical El Niño weather, except for a couple of months last spring. We thought we were in for a dry summer with bushfires, but ended up with floods.
