I just don't know where to go/what to do. Money situation ok. Time not as ok because say someplace like SE Asia or Australia would eat up too much travel time.
Suggestions?
Thoughts of Iceland, Portugal. Thoughts of getting out of the US. Desires: friendly locals, nice scenery, getting some exercise, not to be too un-modly hot.

Iceland is amazing, it looks so different and dramatic.
I've only been to Lisbon but I really liked that too.

I found a kayak & yoga thing on San Juan Island in Washington State. Yoga is one of those things I never find time to do.

The San Juan Islands are gorgeous. I cried when I had to leave Orcas after a week in 1993.

with the exchange rate in your favour, you could look into kayaking trips near/on Vancouver Island.. check island expeditions... saltspring island also has some good trips. Kayaking in the Broken Islands is amazing..

Another vote for Iceland -- stunning scenery everywhere and plenty of activities from horse trekking on lava fields to whale watching and kayaking etc.

Portugal, Iceland, kayak&yoga - can't go wrong on any of those options I think! the first two are high on my list to visit so can't give you more specific advice on them unfortunately.

Personally I would find Portugal too hot in June.

The lodging rates look crazy expensive in Iceland. Even Airbnb. That yoga kayak thing was full already. If Pacific NW, I would feel bad about not being able to fit a visit to my cousin in the Spokane area. Maybe that's stupid to think I have to, but he's one of my favorites and not getting any younger. Thing is I need to relax not stress out over schedules. I don't know why planning seems difficult this time.

In case this helps, Vancouver is like 400 miles away from Spokane, so that's like coming to DC and feeling bad for not getting to see someone in Boston. (Though I understand the favorite relative thing, of course.)

I know, know, know, I said not hot, but I found an Amazon boat trip that has me hot. I have had Iquitos on my radar for a while now. It will be a bit more organized than I want, but you can't just traipse into the jungle, or take off in a canoe on the 'zon, alone and expect to come out alive. More research on a mini version of it perhaps.
