I had overalls in college. That was in the mid 80s. I can't wear them now because I need to be able to go to the bathroom in a hurry.
If you want to wear them, go ahead, but please put a shirt on underneath. You're not at Woodstock.

I hate all the off-the-shoulder tops. Hopefully since that was a thing last year, maybe it'll be gone at some point this year.

Liiisa, was thinking something similar.
Some of us must wear bras and finding one with clear straps at this size is near to impossible.

or wear loudly coloured bras, but then not all of us have the cash to have a rainbow lingerie drawer.
i've just realised that with a bit of tapering, the comfie-but-hideous elephant print pants my great aunt sent me could actually be fashionable.

I would love to know why skirts have gone out of fashion, it's all shorts everywhere.
Is it just me or have clothing ranges got even worse? It seems that there's now one thing that's in, and there's very little else available. In my mind at least the selection used to be more varied, where even if the lion share consisted of the trend or the day, you could still find other styles too.
Or maybe i just hate current fashion increasingly more than I used to. And I'm bitter because I want a skirt for work in line with our relaxed dress code and I can't find one.

CONFESSION:
I've totally given up. On the weekends I dress as though I'm on a camping trip and at the office I dress like a soccer mom or something and I just DG a single F.
I also got rid of all my dresses and skirts because I can't deal with having one set of shoes for this thing and another set of shoes for that thing, I mean seriously fuck it.
I ALSO cannot cope with going into department stores or shopping malls, so if it isn't in one of the consignment shops near my office or any of the handful of websites where I buy my clothes then fuck it too.

Sneakers with dresses is a real thing here in oz. Even I'm doing it. Or versions of sneakers. I will confess to wearing my hiking boots with summer frocks in Greece last year - it was just tooooooo hot to wear even shorts while stomping around the ruins.
That off the shoulder thing is good for sylph-like hippie teens and that's about it (think 1970s - when I probably last wore them).
And speaking of back then - you would NEVER be seen with visible straps - now, no one seems to be bothered about showing their straps. I find it quite strange.

Those sneakers are cute but I’ve really collapsed down into a capsule wardrobe kind of idea. Plus I just got rid of all my skirts so I’d have to buy all new skirts, nooooo
I don’t think I’ve been in a Bloomingdales in 20 years. The only department store I can tolerate is Uniqlo.

I prefer skirts to pants, and hunted everywhere for a basic black mid-calf or over the knee skirt that wasn't narrow. Found two maxi ones that are nice, but a bit too warm for summer, and not the best for climbing into my van. Then found not one but two, for less that twenty dollars each, at K-Mart.

i see it on tourists and language school students. it is weird how it is pretty much the ultimate in bad fashion, and yet they make it look aspirational!

Oh.
There I was thinking it looked cool.
I may one day search out my tube top photo and post it here. It worked b/c I had no boobs.

I had a tube top too. I had giant boobs. It was a poor choice.
About the aspirational thing the thing is, if you're already cool and interesting and young and have that certain thing going on, anything you wear is going to be fashionable. It's where fashion comes from.
ETA that I used the word thning many times in that sentence. I am somewhat PUI.

I prefer trousers to skirts and would happily live in jeans and tshirt every day.
luckily sneakers go with that. Actually current sneakers are from the men's department. I might have missed my chance to be a fashion icon.

I also had an ankle-length Norma Kamali skirt that was kind of tight around the ankles so you had to shuffle around in it, and of course those giant shoulder pads.
When I went to NYC I would ogle the crazy clothes in the windows at Charivari on the UWS but they were so expensive!
