Didn't wake up very early. My dog isn't very helpful with early wake ups. But I got going on some projects. Man pants for one. I went to an estate sale that was supposed to go until 2, but apparently they rolled it up early. It made me sad to see the probable owner on her cane and her older big red dog outside.

I thought today would be a case of hurry up and wait. I have an appointment at the solicitor at 3 pm, and this morning was expecting the valuer and building Inspector coming on behalf of the buyer, so I needed to make the bed early, and be ready for them to arrive. I’d told a women’s group I normally attend that I probably wouldn’t make it there, as inspector was due about ten, the time the meeting starts 3/4 hour away.. He’s come a bit early, but it probably won’t be worth the trip by the time he’s finished. Valuer has already been.

This morning spent some time by the river, looking for birds and wildflowers and such.
Then home to do laundry, watch some British Dragonfly Society videos, and tweak my train adventure arrangements to add a night in a hotel in case the first leg of the train trip was late... I've been deep into all these videos that people post about cross-country Amtrak trips, and one consistent message is "don't try to make a connection between two long trips in a single day because they're always late." So it looks like I'm spending the night in Sacramento.
Now I'm going to process my photos from this morning. My camera became deranged at one point and started shooting video, but I think I managed to reset it. I am way too ADHD for a complicated camera; SO many options, and I'm just like aaaaah just tell me what to do

I had Friday off work to spend time with my parents while they are here. Gave CK1 the day off school and we went to the Easter Show for the day. A long, very tiring day but the kids and my parents enjoyed it.
Saturday we had swimming lessons, MrCat took my parents and kids out on the boat whilst I tidied the house as we don't all fit. Then gymnastics for CK2 followed by a birthday party and a BBQ dinner.
Yesterday CK1 had a trial soccer game and we watched some of his friends play so were there most of the morning. In the afternoon my parents did craft with the kids and I went back to bed for an hour as I haven't been sleeping well.
Today I'm in the office.

do they still require you to return books when they are closed? our library usually puts late fees and everything on halt, if they are closed for whatever reason ... also, you can't just return books at a different library than the one where you got them ... I still have to return them to one of the other branches of the council library. They have 5 branches in different suburbs, so I did have a choice. When they are all closed between Christmas and New Year they wiped fines during that period. Now they don't fine anyway, only suspend borrowing rights. I have accidentally returned a book to the wrong council, and then you just have to wait as it slowly works its way through the system (usually takes about 2 weeks to show up to the right council)

First Monday of the holidays and it's been great to wake up without the alarm, with sunshine streaming through the cracks in the shutters.
Currently contemplating our agenda today with PG. Possibly will pop over the border today to a very pretty place called Kelmis in Belvium. Its one of our annual hikes during wild daffodil season. Millions of daffodils growing in the wild along creeks and in the fields and forests.
I think PG is planning on making roast bambi for dinner tonight.

I am not jealous of river...no. not at all... But at least I have a 4 day weekend to look forward to!
getting used to my verifocals - not as bad as I thought but still kind of weird. Plus I drove to work this morning just to find out the heating was broken in the office - 14C- nope - so called my manager and he said I can work from home. so drove all the way back - and hour wasted!
It suddenly turned very cold again but I may still attempt a short walk at lunch. Sitting the whole day is the worst.

Working. But 11 weeks from tomorrow I will be freeeeee
Oh but then after work I have an acupuncture appointment (not sure if it's doing anything, but it's certainly pleasant) and THEN it's March Mammal Madness, where I transcribe all the live action from X onto Bluesky.

Trying to make the pants puzzle fit together. Some of the fabric came "straight outta the dumpster". I would like to use that saying somewhere, but not across the butt.
There's a passport fair going on at the library so I am going to fix my face and go.

Working in the office today. It is usually my work from home day but we have a film crew in to shoot a promotional video which I have to take part in. I am very nervous but in total I think of the 2 hours of footage they will take today, the final video will only by 5-10 minutes.

Working from home, gym at lunch.
It's a short week due to bank holidays Friday and Monday but somehow I wake up every morning thinking it's one day later, eg today thought it's Wednesday - so it actually feels like a long week!

Currently watching a documentary about the amazing food markets in Turin, where we'll be next week. Just downloaded the app for Turin's public transport network - it only costs €3.00 for a dayticket for all buses, trams and the metro.
I think it'll be a quiet day today. Going hiking in Luxembourg tomorrow so will probably just knit and slob around today.

That bridge collapse sounds awful. I had playgroup this morning, and then called in at my solicitor’s for her to scan my passport. Mostly sloth this afternoon.

There's a 21-second video of the bridge collapse - so fast! terrifying!
Small comfort that it was at least not at rush hour.

So much for knitting and slobbing. Got out to do a 6.5km round hike nearby, saw lots of weird and wonderful fungi and even though Peasoup Abbey wasn't open today, we could still get a drink amd an ice cream at the farmshop so sat out in the sun half Way through our hike.

turns out someone put these kind of outdoor benches that some pubs use into my cellar, i asked at the pub next door but they aren't their's. will have to ask my landlord if he knows anything, but he's currently in chile ... that's rude! haul them outside, leave them on the street. The owners will show up PDQ. (Pretty damn quick) currently procrastinating on filling out feedback forms for 16 presentations done by my students, including listening to short recordings I took during each one. Partner is in hte gym, so no more excuses that he'll be disturbed by the noise while he works.

that's what my brother said. but i kind of don't do that, since it could be a misunderstanding or something (like, the landlord telling them to put it in the first cellar on the right and they thought he meant the first one on the left ... there is one neighbour i want to ask if they are his ... and if not, will text my landlord ... if neither knows anything, then i suppose i could think about just removing them ...

Supposed to be going hiking in Luxembourg today but the weather isn't promising. So instead going down to the Ahr Valley to walk on the Red Wine Hiking Trail and to buy some local wine to take to my friends in Switzerland next week.
A Dutch colleague is coming by soon to come with us. She is a keen hiker but doesn't like going walking alone and doesn't know the Eifel well. She and I don't know each other all that well, she teaches downstairs in the primary wing, but we often chat a bit in carpark so I thought it would be nice to get to know her a bit better.
I think we'll be eating late lunch at our fave place down there - the old Abbey with the amazing Flammkuchen.

Working in the morning, then taking my mom back to the ophthalmologist, then yet another round of Bluesky-liveposting March Mammal Madness. It's an interesting writing exercise - summarizing a short presentation in 300 characters or less.

Today is understandably dragging, making a list of things I'd like to do when I get home and have booked an aqua class for next week, have really missed my regular exercise while in the hospital (will go for a swim this weekend).
Gym seems oversubscribed as I looked for an earlier class but it had 25 people on the wait list.

Today I had to explain to a co-worker that if 6 engineers work 40 hours each with an hourly rate of £100 he needs to multiple all three numbers to come up with an invoice figure. He didn’t get it. Finally did as told but I am very sure he did not believe me, He insisted on 6 x £100 would be correct.
I am crap at maths but that made me despair.
Then went to lunch with some Danish colleagues and had some nice thai food, and lovely chats!
Home after work – was hoping for a walk but the weather changes every ten minutes so we will see. If then it will be a short one.
