Is it Tuesday where you are or ist a Monday? Here, its'a Tuesday - Tuesday morning not quite seven thirty yet. And I'm a bit bored. Woke up early (5.30) couldn't sleep. Washed the dishes, made a cuppa and fired up the computer. Not good legs hanging down this early, can't watch the television though as have Master 13 and Master 11 asleep in the lounge room.
Anyway, today is Melbourne Cup Day. Now that may not mean much to anybody outside of Melbourne, but here in Melbourne it's a big thing - pretty much everything shuts down. Supermarkets are open and cafes too I'd guess, and shopping malls (which I hate) not much else going on. I can hear rain outside.
Don't mind me, I'm just a bit bored and can't relax in the lounge room.
OH, and yes, had a squiz at the from guide - I like number 16 - Gallante, running in barrier 18. He hasn't got a chance according to the form but I like the name anyway.

It's Monday evening. I had a lazy morning, to chill after a busy weekend. Then I went to the gym I've just joined, for an induction session. While I was away for the weekend, my daughter did some food shopping and baking, so I've been eating cake all day, and we had a nice Moroccan chicken dish for dinner.
So nothing exciting, but nice all the same.

It's Monday and I'm working. I will be working on Tuesday as well.
I think if I were retired I would be fine being noncommitted for about 6 months but then I'd have to get at least a part time job doing something, even if it were unpaid.
Otherwise I'd just sit on the sofa and become a blob.

Monday afternoon here, just got done with class and made myself a giant green salad. I've got 1 hour til I need to get off the computer and do my homework for tomorrow.
It was definitely a Monday for me but the day got better as it wore on.

Tuesday morning. LC is home sick from school so he is on the sofa next to me - he wants me near him. He is snuffling and it is driving me crazy - don't know how many times I've told him to blow his nose.
In a bit of lucky timing LC managed to pass his cold on to Clipper, who is also home sick from work. Which will mean I will be able to get to the Melbourne Cup thingy I was invited to. But it will make it harder to work on the presentation I have to give on Thursday (not yet really started) or typing up the minutes from a meeting yesterday. Should have done that yesterday but just as I got home from said meeting the phone rang to pick up sick child from school.

Doing our regular Tuesday shopping run this morning for groceries then coming home to watch the racing on TV and try and pick a winner for the Melbourne Cup. Wall of Fire is my first pick but will take a couple of quinellas and trifectas with others as well to make it more interesting.

Currently on the bus home from work. I was supposed to be getting a drink with my sister but she bailed, which I’m actually glad for because I have Spanish class tomorrow night and weather class Thursday and I just got back to town last night.

Meaning to go to bed but instead gleefully reading the Twitter live-interpretation of Carter Page's testimony before Congress because Carter Page is a fucking idiot, a hilariously peak-level type pretentious idiot.

Just put my shirt (well, a somewhat grubby t shirt with a message in dubious taste, in point of fact) on Tiberian, a nice looking 6 year old brown horse ridden by a man in a yellow shirt

Bugger! But he tried hard - came up from the back and was coming 3rd at one stage near the finish.

Well I woke up in a hotel in a foreign country so I will be getting up shortly, showering, going downstairs for a cooked breakfast... I am hoping for bacon. Then taking a bus to my new job.

Running late this morning, so obviously I have five mins to check the internet.
W*rking this morning, then going to a travel trade show this afternoon. I have one meeting and a seminar to go to, but will otherwise be wandering around finding the most impressive stands/ones with best free food and drink.

Gallante came first ... at the wrong end! Just like me when I had to run school relays - I always won came first. (At the other end! Haha.)
Minding one grandson is nice. Minding two together is hell. I have made a career decision here to not to mind two at a time. Although I didn't sign up for two, I had said I'd have one. The second was thrust upon me. Never again! Screwed up my whole day really. God I wish I could have a smoke. I could really do with them now. I'm sorta restless, can't sit still, don't want to do work (housework) feel like I'm full of Mexican jumping beans.
I think I need to talk myself down. I maybe should do something stupid so I'll feel better. But then guilt will set in, so no mcdonalds.

trying to get my day going. it's 10 am! part of the problem is that it's now cold, and i don't notice the flat getting colder and me getting more sluggish. i'll do some marking, reply to a potential student, pretend i'm going swimming, and then do a couple hours of teaching. i really need to get my arse in gear, to go to a local charity shop and see if someone has picked up the antique hot water bottle i didn't buy on impulse last week.
i have a lot of time right now, but not enough to do that must be done, so i get little done at all. like webs, i'll need some sort of part time job when i retire or i'll sink into oblivion.

There was bacon, and I found the right bus, although not where I thought it would be.
On the downside I am in the ninth circle of Tech support hell. But apparently this is normal so hey ho.

I worked all day, and then blew off Spanish conversation class because I started to have a sore throat mid-afternoon and it's rainy and gross out. We had chicken soup and sweet potato pie for dinner, and now I'm about to do my weather class reading and attempt not to look at the results of the Virginia governor's race for at least another hour because it's just going to stress me out. pero is playing a YouTube video of this song "Bitch Island" by the Seattle punk rock band Mommy LongLegs very loud, which is a fine thing. I may get a scoop of gelato. I know I already had pie, but I'm sure it would do wonders for my sore throat.

Not really today, but yesterday I went to the Pictures and saw Murder On The Orient Express! Great movie, very good long, wide sweeping scenes of country side. A little humour had been injected into Poirot's character. The recliner chairs are Oarsum! There are two little buttons on the right inside of your chair, press to raise and/or lower the leg/feet rest. Big, wide arms, nice squishy leather plenty of room for cup holders and other goodies. Tried taking a couple of photos with my new-fangled phone (did get a few) - found later on I'd taken a video of my feet with blue nail polish. Don't ask how it happened, I don't know.
Anyway, I got all dolled up and made a real outing of it, was given a free cappuccino at the box office kiosk and even made sure I had the requisite Maltesers to munch on. No use getting Jaffas these days, it's all carpeted. (In the "old" days, picture theatres had wooden floors. You'd roll your Jaffas down the aisle at the requisite moment - you know, when everybody is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. It did annoy the oldies no end!)
