Aw, LC! Hope he's better soon.
I have kind of a crazy day today - have a ton of work, but then also a luncheon with some people from the nature center field school, then tonight the theater. (No idea which play, my friends got the subscription. I generally just rock up & find out what's happening when I get there).

A friend has just posted on FB that she walked out of a play I was thinking of getting tickets to go and see. So I'm glad my general laziness meant I hadn't got around to it yet.

i made an appointment to have banh mi w a friend who was tzarevich's friend.
i am the subversive aunt here. i told to apply to harvard & write for the crimson (she was an editor of their school paper) her mom was nasty @ the campus visit telling her not to eat banh mi bc "it'll make you fat!" in front of all of us. that's why we are eating banh mi.

Ugh, damn right - buy that child a couple macarons for dessert, too.
I spent the day sleeping, drinking rum, reading, and coughing.

good idea, liisa. take a eucalyptus bath.
her mom was so weird about food. she was going on about how people from harvard werent that smart & being really bitchy in generally, so i took her daughter aside & said we're eating banh mi. another mom that day, who i had just met, told me that her husband didn't want her daughter. college visits - so glad they are over. only did 2, thankfully

Right now looking forward to not doing much of anything tomorrow (Tues). Blizzard conditions expected. Schools, town offices, etc., all closed. Towns want the roads clear for plows, so stay off the roads if at all possible. My evening rehearsal is cancelled. Not planning to leave the house. Shopped today. I'll try to sleep in. Hope the cabin fever doesn't hit.

what did I do today: -
Took TB to the podiatrists, then dropped him off at programs. Went for a 30 minute walk around the water front, I then planned on going shopping at the Gluten Free shop and heading home. Friend texted to remind me we were meeting for lunch. Had a nice lunch at a place somehow supported by a disability service, we weren't sure were the disabled came into it - all perfectly normal people in the cafe. Managed to activate and use the pay parking app, came in handy as the metered spots were only 2 hours and I wanted 3. Put more money on the meter from the table. Now I am home and ready to start cleaning and organising myself for a day out tomorrow.

I love those app parking services, poppy. I haven't gotten a single parking ticket since they were instituted around here; well worth the extra service charge they tack on.
I'm going to be spending the day sleeping and reading and coughing again.

Gave up 2 vials of blood for a check. Walked the dog. Sunny out but cold. Felt pissy, then the new dog walker called. She might work out. Lives close by. Working from home. Thought I would hate it but I don't. I'm not feeling isolated because my friend down the road does the same. We check in from time to time.

1) land use planning class field trip, in which we wandered around a planned community subdivision (and marveled at how much it looked like the town where I grew up and not like anyplace else around here)
2) writing group meeting, in which we chatted and ate chocolate

I went to Ikea with eldest daughter, who wanted to get some ideas for furnishing the little house that she's in the process of buying (touch wood). I'm one of the few people who enjoys a wander around Ikea, and there was a touch of excitement in it, this time around. We bought warm cinnamon buns as we left, to lunch in the car.
Since then I've been lazy. I've done some trip research, and now I'm watching a programme about the silk road, which is going to all the places in Xinjiang that I visited a few years ago.

A large breakfast including tropical fruit and chocolate and banana pancake w/ rich dark coffee.
Now resting while that digests, with thoughts turning to a morning meander through the new place we're visiting. Closely followed by lunch, then a rest while that digests ... then more of the same tomorrow.
I love holidays!

went on a hike/treasure hunt with a group of kids and parents. the group was parted in two, one half (mainly kids, some parents) started 20 minutes earlier and drew marks along the way, most correct, some confusing, and hid envelopes with questions and a small bag with "treasure". then, at one point, they hid and waited to ambush the second group that was following the clues. a. and i were in the second group. afterwards we continued to a playground ... it was very sunny but also very windy and very cold, and it was quite a long hike considering the age of the kids. still, for some reason when i brought a. to bed, it was once again me who kept falling asleep, while she was full of energy (admittedly, on the train home she had looked quite exhausted, though).

My dad's on his way down to visit for the weekend. Dinner at my favourite local pub tonight and we'll go out for the day tomorrow; maybe a garden to see some spring flowers.

For the first time in I don't know how long, I'm still in my sleep clothes at 10:30 am. I didn't dress for the dog walker to come. Had an hour long chat with an old friend who needed up to speed on my stuff. Cathartic.

First time home alone in a while. Meant to be doing housework but other than washing (including 4 sets of sheets!) I am just sitting reading a book. The good thing about washing clothes is that there is a lot of down time. So in that time I have just been sitting in the corner of my dining room, on a comfy chair reading a book.
I can't believe how much washing I have. I hadn't been home the past few weekends so pretty much a short couple of loads became a while truckload. Next time that happens I will just take it all down to a laundromat and use the big industrial washers!!
