over three hours sitting at an amusement centre, as LC was at a party and I dont know the parents well enough to ask the to have the responsibility of the epipen. Loud music, screaming kids, bright lights.
I did bring the kindle and did get to read a fair bit, but as the kids did so many different activities and grazed on party food through some of them, I had to keep on moving around.

Yesterday was amazing! Emma González just standing at the podium, crying, silent, and all million of us standing there, hushed, reverent.
Today is busy: visiting mom-of-pero, and then a spring equinox party tonight. In between all that I have a paper to finish writing for my land use planning class.

I had a dental appointment this morning - no dramas, a simple check and clean. In the process my toothwright found a tooth on the lower jaw constructed largely of amalgam and likely to collapse at some inconvenient moment - the product of a long forgotten stopgap (no pun intended) measure.
An hour or two later I departed with a new crown in place - a fang constructed by a wonderful collection of scanners and millers and mini furnaces in the back room. This is a process that used to take weeks.
Thence to the optometrist, where I was told that my cataracts (God! I remember when cataracts were pleasant things running through gorges) are unlikely to explode in the near future and macular degeneration is at a tolerable level. I have taken the advice of y'all on this branch and ordered multifocal glasses.
I spent a quiet few hours in the Eye Specialist's car park while the Memsahib (her vision is far worse than mine) had one of her regular checks, but that seems to be under control for the moment, and she remains a good and safe driver, though somewhat leaden of foot.
Life can be pretty exciting around here. We live in gleeful anticipation of our flu shots.

daycare is closed, but i still have to work, and a. has refused to visit a friend, so she is here ... she is pretty good though, playing by herself most of the time. just that she talks the whole time while she plays, and wants a reaction every now and then ... later we will go to her speech therapist ...

have had a wonderful day. Up and out the door by 7.45 a.m. to get TB to hospital for a day stay surgery. Fortunately he was co operative and it wasn't a struggle which I envisaged. Get in and he is taken straight thru, don't like name tags and kept trying to take them off. Doesn't like band aids either so the cream under the big band aid thing he wasn't enjoying either. To distract him why we waited, they took him and showed him around the whole area. Got to play with equipment, dressed up like a Dr and found the staff having their morning break. The anesthetist even let him play with his stethoscope. I went out for a bite to eat (I don't eat if he can't), came back and it wasn't long before they called me as he was in recovery and apparently wanted me (not so sure of that,I think they wanted me!). Recovered fairly well, except a bit chucky, moved from one section to the next - looking good for heading home. Trent gets up goes to the loo, finds the television room with a couch and lies down and promptly goes to sleep. I then had to wait another 1.5 hours before he woke up enough to leave. So glad to be home now but a day of doing nothing has tired me out.

Am somewhat surprised we haven't had a last minute panic post from Phar about something she has forgotten to do, doesn't know how to do or has run out of time to do. Hopefully her packing and relocation are going well.

Resting up before my third road trip in a week, not counting Enngonia, which is only 100km each way on the highway. Last weekend, I went to Cootamundra to catch up with friends. Tuesday I stayed overnight in Wanaaring which is 200 km, two thirds dirt and bull dust. This weekend, Melbourne for a family reunion. I'll only be there 3 nights this time, but may be back in 3 weeks for a few days, and could probably manage a jam-up then if anyone is interested. My goddaughter, why I caught up with last weekend, now lives in Anglesea, so I may visit her on the second trip.

This a.m. I finished reading "Reservoir 13" & then we walked to the farmers market and stopped for coffee at the great coffee place in the library, then I finished hemming my jeans and then we had an early dinner with my mom. Now I'm drinking rum out of the Pot Still glass I got from weeg for Secret Santa and we're listening to raucous music on the radio and reading stuff on the internet.

went to the movies with mr. r. and a. (jim button and luke the engine driver, a new movie version of a classic german children's novel). before that we went to some friends who were cleaning out their place and gave us their daughter's old ice skates. and after that we got some kind of heavy sandwiches and fries from a place one of our neighbours opened recently in the ground floor of our house ... and now i'd like to go to bed and just quickly make a few more posts before that, but my computer keeps acting up and it makes me very impatient - i had planned to ggo to bed early today.

First a spontaneous lunch with colleagues, then a spontaneous dinner at a Burmese place with a bunch of friends, because one person is in from out of town. Very fancy lifestyle for a Monday!

staring at a computer in front of a cold, grey, wet window, trying to get my creative brain going--i have lessons to plan and i want to do a little writing. have listened to some great radio in the meantime: comparing the orange menace to Hamilton (including excerpts from the musical), an excerpt from Hans Rosling's book (i love him!), and now the history of a women's prison in London.
my nose is defying the laws of physics, producing more mucus than the space actually can hold, and i can hear that my ears are not as clear as they should be. so although i feel ok, i still have a cold. i'm getting through coffee at quite a rate.

it's my brother's birthday, he wants to go fishing but said we can join him ... i suppose with various people and kids around it won't be much quiet fishing ... before that, i'll pick up my bike from the repair shop (once again, i hope this was the last repair that is necessary for a while), as the place he wants to go to is best reached by bike ...

my afternoon student cancelled, so i was able to walk into the shopping area of our neighbourhood and pretend i'm a lady who lunches, but because i worked in the morning, i didn't feel guilty. i have a crap load of stuff to do for tomorrow's lessons, but i know exactly what so that doesn't feel crushing. i just feel really productive, which is making me want to do more things.
