today was a load of running around. Woke up still tired and in pain from having been to the dance comp the night before (and I was not the one dancing). Went to the local markets as I wanted my flowers and dip. Then back home, dropped Clipper off at football, had lunch out with LC at a fave greek place before dropping him to his science class. Brief rest at home before picking Clipper up from football. Then off to pick up LC from science class. The traffic was horrendous and then a fatal accident in a suburb near us made it all even worse.

The traffic was horrendous and then a fatal accident in a suburb near us made it all even worse. Traffic through Sydney was amazingly good at 7,30 am. We avoided the toll roads and took a pleasant drive through suburbs we haven't seen in years. A missed turn even took us through downtown Parramatta, which was pleasant at that time of morning. The only hiccup was around the entrance to The Kings School, where parents who pay 25 to 35k pa in tuition fees for young Alistair or Dugald caused traffic havoc as they lined up to take their progeny to mandatory Saturday games. Our Airb&b tonight had the Memsahib in horrors at first as it is a granny flat that sits behind an empty house due for extensive renovation. From the street it looked appalling, but in reality it is a dream, with accommodating (if you will pardon the pun) and very pleasant owners, My only real complaint is that, like so many other overnight stops (and this goes up to some 5 star) no provision is made for people who wish to read at night so if the situation is similar at the next place I will have to purchase yet another reading lamp, I have quite a collection of them (with a variety of international power plugs) at home,

The breakfast announcer on Dubbo ABC is called Dugald! Are you sure the traffic at Kings wasn't parents like Hal taking their offspring to science class there? Reading lamps are also a bugbear for me. My campervan has the best I've used in ages. I always have kindle books on my phone and iPad for reading at night when there isn't adequate lighting with a switch near the bed.

Oz, this science class is in a nearby state primary school. The school holiday ones are at Kings.
And yes, it was the start of the winter sports comps in this region - on a glorious day when it hit 30C. Thankfully LC had a bye for the first round as otherwise the day would have been impossible.

raked leafs all day. not my favourite thing to do, but it was alright ... my mom had asked to come and help, she has a very big garden and a lot of trees, and had surgery recently, so she can't do any garden work. brother with family and a friend with family were there to help, too ... still, it took us all day to get all the leafs raked ...

work, then picked up a. - brought her new (well, second hand new) big bike along, so she could practice, and we went to her speech therapist. after that we went to a playground a bit further away, so she could practice cycling (she is so fast with the bigger bike i can't keep up on foot), and ended up meeting one of her friends there, so stayed longer than planned. then shopping, and had to cook quite hurriedly so we don't eat too late ... was really nice weather though, so it was worth staying outside longer than planned ...

out of holiday mode and back into work. which includes frantically emailing colleagues to get manager's number, as i'm an idiot and didn't sort that out 3 wks ago when i realised i didn't have it... and now i need it.
laundry is mostly done, i'm almost re-hydrated from yesterday's flight, and although there is a mess of my belongings scattered around, i'm feeling pretty good about my personal organisation. (just not my work organisation) off to get a few groceries, and i foresee that this week, we will be eating a lot of ready meals. i hope there are a few in the discount fridge.

Defrosted the fridge and set up my new set top box which finally arrived. Of course, it needed a phone call because it told me I had the wrong activation code (I didn't). Also lodged passport renewal application.

want to meet up with some friends after work, probably outdoors at a playground as the weather is nice. gotta still decide which playground, i hope one not too far from us, so i can cycle there with a. (i want to slowly increase the distances she can go, so we can hopefully do a bike tour by summer).

grading exams :-(
my colleague and I are trying out a new way to divide up the work but I'm realizing it may be fairer to the students but it's more confusing for us and way more time-consuming :-((( Once I'm done with this I have another 16 reports to grade for another thing. boooo.

busy, full day with several work meetings and projects. lots of changing topics in one day, but also some progress. somehow my week is too full of work though, which is not right because all my paid work shouldn't add up to these hours. I'm trying to figure out ways how to use my time more productively/effectively (I think I loose a lot of time switching topics/roles/projects so much and travel/commuting), but not quite there yet...

my morning and hopefully it will only be the morning. will be packing for our 4 day trip to Queensland, sounds easy but TB will add dirty/unnecessary things while in the meantime I will be trying to wash some of his clothes. Hopefully this afternoon I will get to do a bit of nothing, as it is a public holiday and no need to go anywhere.

worked. then got a call from daycare, a. is not feeling well. went there, a. was eating lunch and looked well again, took her home anyway and worked some more, partly with her jumping around asking me questions, partly let her watch a video so i could work. then since she felt well, we went to her speech therapy and then to the 80th of brother's gf's grandma, at a nearby café ... ate cake and drank hot chocolate.

Drove from Bendigo to Hillston (460 km) via Booligal, which meant 50 km of quite good dirt road. The next town with reasonable camping facilities is Cobar, more than 250 km. Mount Hope has a pub and a shed with a toilet and shower, but not much else. Then under 2 hours home to Bourke.

It was Administrative Professionals day here in the US. Our company gives us a gift. This year it was a Kiehls box of face creams.
My team also got me bouncy cheesecake and a gift card. And one of the VPs got me a gift card to Shake Shack.
I feel loved.

Having a great 'grandma' day.. we hit the local park with a bucket full of bird seed and he learned a new word: swarm! Then we checked out the baby goats at the petting zoo in the same park. Next we rode around on the harbour ferries for a while, went for ice cream before lunch (grandma rules!) and lunch at MacDonalds as he loves the little National Geographic stuffies currently being featured in the kid meal packs. Finally we spent time in a book store. Great day!

Happy admin professionals day webs! I wish we had that when I was doing admin work.
As for me...I am multitasking. By that I mean I have started things and got nothing done.
I started, and am, reading Thirteen Reasons Why.
I started sorting my place in anticipation of the move I don't know about yet. Ten pairs of shoes will be donated.
I am considering going out to get pad thai. Importantly I can also get coffee.
I am also looking at BIG TRIP TO EUROPE things. Ie going to some war cemeteries in Passchendaele where my great great uncle is buried. My grandad's uncle. And I think separately my nana's uncle. Both died at Passchendaele/third battle of Ypres.
