Great news tucano!
Funny Liisa, besides colombia Oaxaca is high on my list of plaes to visit!
Language class is 50minutes, have my first one \monday, and will see, but 2 a week sound sensible, one one evening after work and one on a Saturday maybe. Guatemala seems to be the hub for spanish school, both at the lake and in Antigua. I know immersion is ideal, but if you work full time it's rather difficult, if I travel for 2 weeks I dont really wan't to spend one week studying, as this leavs barely any time for anything else, with the long flights to get to Latin America from the UK.
This year I went for 2 weeks to barbados and that means I can take another 2 week break in autumn, if I go for 3 weeks like I used to it's really only one trip a ear. all still totally undecided!
But at least I did the first step in getting a tutor, now I just need to study properly as well, and then I see what I decide about travel plans for next year.

marking, teaching, more marking. but snuck out for lunch, at the caf serving a bun with salad, spicy sauce, and mystery meat. They say it's lamb and I choose to believe them.
Rom, quite a few language schools specialise in 'tourist' classes, so you have a session in either the morning or afternoon, then free time. They'll often organise expeditions which can be convenient. I had a real eye-opening time at a local market with my teacher one day. I had been going there nearly ever week for a couple of months, but because she also spoke Quechua, she showed me a lot of stuff I'd never noticed and probably could have lived without (like frog juice...).

I get that sprite, but I still need to stay in one place for a week and can't travel around, which really only makes sense if I go away for 3 weeks.
Either way I had a surprisingly good day, after a walk I forced myself to take even though it was cold, grey and on and off drizzly, the sun came out in the afternoon and t felt like spring! So went for another longer walk in the cuntryside which was lovely - besides of the mud, we had a massive storm last night with heavy rain. But felt so nice to feel some warmish sunshine!
On a side note I noticed today that Mika, my older (11ish? rescue so no real DOB) is pretty much deaf - she is so attuned to myself and I guess feels with her whiskers vibrations in the air when I approach her - today I stood a meter away and called her and got no response, not even when I clapped my hands loudly. Only when I got closer and shouted at her did she react. History repeating itself, Leah my British shorthair who died in 2019 was deaf as well...Not worried, she is not unwell, no infection, might be breed related, but now that I know I can adjust my approach to her a bit.

leaving for italy tomorrow. today, i woke up too early, once again, and couldn't fall asleep. i packed, which wasn't easy, as there are too many things i need to take along and i hope i manage with all that luggage tomorrow. later, i picked up a. from a station a bit further away. yet later, my brother and family came to drop off my niece, and we all went out for dinner together. ah, and my computer caused problems today, which caused me to be very stressed ...

That sounds very civilised, ozzie! Similar here - a quiet day knitting, bingeing travel docos and then making beer battered fish and chips for dinner. PG has got the suitcases down from the attic so we can start packing for our rapidly approaching roadtrip.

Groceries; coffee; buying a birthday present for my sister; reading about Davis, California.
I have become completely terrible at buying presents because I never "go shopping." Everything I buy for myself is either a book (and she's not a big book reader) or outdoor clothes (and she isn't a big hiker), and she doesn't wear earrings anymore either. I'll probably go to this one boutique in Takoma Park and find something she doesn't need at all like tea towels with pictures of insects on them or something, who knows. Or maybe I'll just get a nice bottle of bourbon.
I'm also still obsessing about planning my train trip this summer - have come to the conclusion that stopping overnight in Sacramento doesn't sound very fun because the neighborhood around the Amtrak is a little sketchy and nothing interesting is easy walking distance. So now I'm shifting my focus to this nearby university town, which means I'm going to have to change all those arrangements. This is me 100%, I reserve things impulsively and then have to change them.

Some garden stuff but all my pots are full of tulips waiting to bloom, so I can't plant summer bulbs yet. Might try and get to the farm shop to see if they have anything in pots for some colour. Husband is cleaning the patio but probably a bit early to put garden furniture back out, although it's nice and sunny (but only 12C) today.
Hopefully we can visit our favourite local for food later.

Finally managed to sleep in and 9am which was bliss. Breakfast in bed, then I started to my annual spring clean.
Now waiting for friend to come around to go for lunch, and a walk after.
Also reevaluating travel plans for rest of year, my godmother had surgery next week and will get a from a to give her quality of life again, so might scratch autumn holiday plans and instead face a visit to my hometown later this year to see her. Have been avoiding it due to memories of mum but feel strong enough to face it now, and exotic travel destinations will still be there in the future, she might not... So it feels more important right now.

Avoided the easter panic at the grocery store. I will eat whatever. Got to the mini farmers market. Then to an estate sale. Stayed under budget of $10. Came home and finished some work. I am done.

I keep forgetting that tomorrow is Easter. There was no Easter panic at my grocery store. I think this is a fairly secular neighborhood, well plus the religious folks are largely Ethiopian, and they don't celebrate Easter until May.

Church this morning, anda farewell morning tea for our locum priest, his wife and their dog, who have been with us for the last 6 months. Ducked into the shops for milk and non-alcoholic bubbles to take to lunch with my 91-year-old friend and some of her family.

Daughter and I visited Mr.W's grave to commemorate the fifth(!!) anniversary of his death coming up on Tuesday. Then we came back to the house, had a bite to eat and a good long visit. Of course we miss him, but we're glad he's not around to see all the current disturbing events and individuals. He would be in a state of perpetual rage.

Lazy morning, LC still wanted us to hide his easter eggs this morning.
Nice walk to the river with LC this afternoon.
Board game fun this evening. I broke the other two when I gave Larry the Cat as one of my answers to 'universally loved individual'

psw that sounds like a good day. We say that about pero's dad, who would have been horrified at the Repubican party's current pro-Putin stance. Today we're going to my mom's place for my sister's birthday.

Husband always hides some eggs in the lounge for me to find, I don't care that I’m in my 40s!
Also watching the Tour of Flanders on TV. Love a cobbled classic.

A bit sad that. Bridie O’Donnell isn't commenting tonight, hope it is just a once off and she will be back for Le Tour.

had such a lovely day yesterday, but today was grey and miserable and I felt tired and out of it the whole day - at least I picked up on the fact that the clocks changed. Since I had dinner I feel slightly nauseous - might have been in the freezer a bit too long - no idea. But will have an early night and am so glad that we still have a day off tomorrow!
On the sofa now doing puzzles online (me new addiction) with one cat on my lap and one on the headrest behind me with her paws on my shoulders. Lots of purring going on which is rather lovely.

I think Riki needs a medal.
After building up a lovely stash of pots, I finally puts lots of dirt and seeds into them. It was strangely hard, like my brain preferred just having all those supplies available but unused.

I totally get this, sprite. Collecting all the supplies means you can relax and do the job whenever you feel like it, but then you don't feel like it. E.G. - I bought several window shades cut to size a couple of months ago. So far I've only hung half of them, one at a time. No rush. The old ones aren't completely in shreds yet. Let's not even discuss jewelry.
