She has posted thus on fb:
I’ve recently joined a book club and I’m hosting next week which means I need to offer a choice of 3 books for our next read. I’m hoping for good writing and funny or uplifting or at least cheery. Is that possible? Thank you

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand. Charming light novel, about a widower who falls for a widow. Problem: he's a retired major who's grandfather was an officer in the Raj and belongs to a slightly racist golf club, while she is an Indian who runs the local shop, and is under pressure to pass it over to her nephew and take care of an elderly aunt in another city. Also, his son is an upwardly mobile yuppy londoner, and there's a housing development threatening his back garden.
it's not heavy handed with the discrimination/stereotypes, and it's refreshing to read about people over 60 falling in love. The writing is easy to read, but well-written. i should look for more by that author.

The Guernsey literary and potato peel Pie society. Sorry if I don’t have the title correct, but I can’t access Goodreads with the internet down.

the ladies of missalonghi (thornbirds author) i believe she was sued by the estate of LM Montgomery, as the plot is nearly identical to 'the Blue Castle' which is also very good, and cheaply available as an e-book.
