It is a cheesy headline. But ooh, I want to read that! I don't think I've read any of the nominees yet this year.

I haven't read any of them, but after reading that Anna Burns was so hard up during the writing of this book that she relied on a Food bank, which she thanks in her acknowledgements, I feel like I should buy a copy! She also struggles with severe pain and thought she might not be able to finish the book.
However, the book I actually most want to read off the shortlist is Esi Edugyan's Washington Black, followed by Richard Powers' The Overstory, and from the longlist Sally Rooney's Normal People.

Washington Black is on my list as well, I had a free read of it in a bookstore a while back and it looks good.

Milkman still isn't available in this country; I've got a copy preordered at the bookstore so that I can leap on it the minute it's available.
I've got Washington Black on my hold list at the library, so at some point I'll get to read it....

Washington Black just won another big prize, the Giller, here in Canada.
