So, I got a friend request on goodreads, from someone I do not know. And, she doesn't read the kind of books I do at all - everything on her page is romances, especially supernatural romances.
Are there bots on there?
If not, why would a complete stranger who reads books of a genre I never read be interested in being "friends"?

I suppose there are bots everywhere? Maybe it is a scheme to turn everyone into werewolf lovers.
I got a friend request from a publishing company the other day - had entered a competition for one of their books, and I do have a separate shelf for books from this company. So that makes sense, but I still feel weird friending a company.

Hm, I don’t know. I do follow a couple of people whom I don’t know, just because I saw a few of their reviews for books I had read and realized they had good taste and wrote good reviews. But those were follows, not friend requests.

Yeah, I've had a couple of notifications that someone I don't know is following my reviews, but this is the first out-of-the-blue friend request.
I looked at her list of read books again and it's a bit weird - in 2010 she added a bunch of classics. Then no additions till 2013, when she started adding the romances. No new additions since 2014.
Ahhhh... just noticed on her profile, her link is: ᴡᴡᴡ.18sexy.co --- мoрe нeтeрпeнья любви cyмaшeжшeгo ceкca ты пoймaeшь вoт тyт

Maybe the books give a clue to the type of services she offers?
