Sorry, I was meant to go to the post office this afternoon, but that can't happen til Wed now, so my parcel will likely be late.

Wow! The price of postage has really gone up!
Mine has been sent, it most probably won't arrive before Christmas because I wasn't prepared to spend over $100 on postage

Over $100 is ridiculous.

Yes, postage is a real issue - part of my 45 minutes was "buying" a prepaid satchel for $30.30, only to be told at the counter, no it's $65. Which I accepted because by that stage I'd been there 15 mins and just wanted out. Then it wouldn't go through the system at that price, so she apparently had to change bags to match what the system was quoting (not $65). FML. Reminded me of Little Britain "computer says no".
It ended up even sillier when she brought out a bag and I told her it wouldn't fit, only for her to insist it would. And then it didn't. I'm fairly sure I heard her say fuck.
Anyway, it was cheaper, but still a lot compared to previous years.

Whoa! Maybe we should start just sending cards or something. $100 is an insane amount for postage.
I think I paid $40 here, but that includes one of the post office's padded mailing bags.

Or we just need to accept that organising the thing starts in September, with assignments going out by the end of October so people have time to use the cheap posting options...
Or just sending stuff that's light and cheap to send (scarves, fridge magnets etc).

Or maybe I should have got my act together sooner?
I was more complaining about the silly post office scene than the postage, although NZ is clearly the winner for ridiculous postage costs :-D

I finally got my act together and posted on Sunday so not sure it will get there before Christmas. Feeling slightly guilty about receiving before I'd posted helped.

Option 1 - fast and will arrive in time over $100
Option 2 - less fast probably won't arrive in time - $72
Option 3 - slowest won't arrive in time $45.
I've had the present for ages it's just remembering to take it with me when I leave th e house

Kneazle I know how you feel. I had my present all week but at the moment I can only do one extra thing per day on top of work and dad. It sounds crazy to type that, but one day I found a box, the next I discovered I had no wrapping paper, the next I bought it, and the next I wrapped it!

As I was reading this thread I thought "you know, I should go out to the mailbox because I have a feeling" and yaaaaay I received my package! Thank you Santa! I will restrain myself and not open it until Isthmus morning.

I will open mine before we leave for England as it doesn't make sense to take more than necessary with us. So will try and resist until Tuesday or Wednesday morning next week.

Posted - technically it should arrive before Christmas, but it depends on how long it spends at Sydney airport.

A box arrived from somewhere near the North Pole this morning. The label identifies the sender as a figment. It was actually delivered to the front door.

Thank you to my not very secret Santa.
Love everything, especially the earrings with the stories and the pen which was employed to write all the labels on the Christmas gifts.
The card game may be played later today.

Thank you to my also not very secret Santa!! This coffee looks gorgeous, the notepad is adorable, and I will be putting my phone and such in the bag for Christmas at my mom's this afternoon. And this is one of the most beautiful cards that I've ever seen.

Thank you Secret-ish Santa! What a lovely soft tshirt…it will go with the jeans I just bought yesterday. I know that the notebook will come in handy. I think I’ll use it to keep track of my work hours, though it’s almost too nice for that. And the pin is quite lovely…you made me very happy. Thank you again! Cheers from Ruth XO
