I’m not doing much looking into the Australian part of my trip yet, but have two questions. Is a Greyhound bus pass good to get around on the east coast (and possibly as far as Adelaide as I have friends who have a vineyard in the Barossa valley)? And if not a greyhound, what’s another choice? I will be based on the Sunshine Coast. I hope to get down to Sidney also. Last time I was in that part of the world, I flew everywhere or rented a car. This time I think I want to see the landscape.

I can't help you with that, haven't used the long distance buses for over 20 years. I know coming from Canada you are aware of the huge distances etc, but Sunshine Coast to Adelaide is a long way!

I was thinking train more as you have the ability to get up and walk more, but if the knee is fully functional again that may not matter

Train is slow, but recommended. There are trains all the way from North Queensland to Adelaide via Melbourne. Premier Motor Service is more popular in this part of the world than Greyhound for coaches. Depending on your timing, I may be available to drive you between Brisbane and Sydney, and act as tour guide. I’m really good at dropping people off at the start of walks and picking them up at the end! And I’m very familiar with the east coast and Sydney.

Thanks, Ozzie. I will decide in August if I will go.. I will be seeing my surgeon by then and I will go with his travel recommendations for my knee.
