I'm looking at planning another work trip in September, and just started looking at flights. Ouch.
It's a slightly complicated route (AMS - Shanghai - (HK) - Bangkok - AMS; maybe - though the Chinese cities could vary; also in order). The websites I usually use can't deal with this request. And the one who do come up with a price that's quite a bit more than I can afford.
Any suggestions on where to look?

Apparently one should contact travel agencies for routes like that. My friend scored a pretty awesome deal that way AMS-MADRID-BOSTON-HAWAII-CHICAGO-MADRID-AMSTERDAM, it wa sjust under 1000 euro, I believe.

Mei, have you tried cheaptickets.nl? i usually use this one or vliegtickets.nl just did my own search... i can fly out of DUS (Germany) 'straight' to Sapporo via Shanghai but it _is_ painful that i have to overnight there. i'm going to stay a week in HK before and after Japan. sure it costs a bit more but the food in HK, my god!!! not only for the food, i simply just love this place. good luck with your search!

thanks, RbW! I've tried the first, but not the second you mention... I haven't been to HK for almost 10 years, so definitely time to visit again I think

China southern do cheap china Amsterdam fares, pretty expensive if you add stop overs usually. But have you looked at booking separate tickets? One for ams-china route return and then the other tickets separately? I'm sure you could get low cost carriers on those routings.
