First of all - do not book Ryanair flights 5 months in advance. Now 6 weeks before departure prices are between 30 and 50 % of what I paid. Mighty annoyed! On my return flight from Perugia they changed the time by 2.45hrs, so I am trying for a refund, but their refund page said they refund the flight if it's +/- 3 hrs, so I am not holding up hope… If I would get the refund I would rebook for the lower price

Basically I am staying close to Perugia, from there it's a short transfer to my yoga retreat. As flights out there were ridiculously expensive (like £200) I decided to fly into Rome on Saturday, stay there over night and then take the train up north on Sunday (2 hours). To do so I had to take a 7am flight, which will really hurt (getting up at 3:30am to make it to airport in time). Then I have a few hours in Rome on the afternoon, a morning on Sunday before I take the train. This means about €30 transport costs, €60 hotel (very cheap not nice place), plus food and anything else I want to do. I've been in Rome for 4 days a while ago so am a bit at a loss as to what to do with my short time in Rome.

Now I realised that the flight to Perugia on Sunday that I couldn't afford as it was so expensive is only £55, and I would fly out Sunday afternoon. I could change my flight from Rome to Perugia for £40. So it would be much cheaper than spending the time in Rome, plus less hassle.

What would you do? Is a bit of time in Rome worth the hassle? If so what would you do with the time? Or just change the flight, ave the money and time, and avoid getting u at 3:30?

I'd change the flight. After a 3:30 am start you wouldn't be fit to enjoy Rome.

I have a Ryanair 'hiccup' of my own. I booked flights last Friday. I have the email with the itenerary. They haven't yet charged my card! What do I do? try and check it ASAP? The flight in 2 1/2 weeks.

Weeg, phone them and get it sorted, the system has probably failed and you will find you are not booked on the flight. Has happened here to me with our budget airline, for some reason payment has not gone through in time, system cancelled booking. They have my money, I have paperwork but no confirmation as such. Easily solved with a phone call, if I hadn't I would not be able to check in.

Romily - when they change your flight are you able to ask for a time that suits you better, especially if the flight they move you to is unsuitable. I would be phoning and trying to get what you wanted, stress they changed the flight time to something completely unsuitable and you now have to re think your trip. May not work but worth the try.

There is only one flight a day - and it's ryanair, they don't give a shit. getting something free is as far as I heard close to impossible!

Weeg, can you log on into my booking on their webpage and see it as confirmed?

I've changed my outbound flight and will give Rome a miss, still waiting for the refund or any answer to my refund request for the return flight, but they said 7 days, so fair enough...

Payment came out this morning. This is good as the light price has gone up since I booked.

The fuckers ...I wish I could swear like some other people here. If I book the Sunday flight the cost for the flight is £35 , if I book it via the "change my original booking" facility the flight price is £98. So if I change my flight I pay nearly double then when I just not use the outgoing flight and book a new one.

they are thieving bastards - surely it can't be legal to have one flight price for one type of booking and one price for the other? Well, i am sure it is, as I am sure they checked, but they are wankers.

I will now have to book the other flight from scratch, with all fees and luggage that leaves me £69 out of pocket and I thought I just have to pay the change fee.

I also do not use GulfAir (but that's a longer story involving an initial 9 hour delay, 2 aborted landings, 1 landing attempt being followed by fire engines down the runway and then aborted, running out of fuel mid air over Bahrain, diverting quickly to Saudi Arabia to refuel, returning to Bahrain to miss our connection (once every 24 hrs), put up in a hotel with riots outside, return to airport, flight delayed by 3 hours, then they dont have our rebooking, arrive at final destination 2 1/2 days later than planned).

Ryanair is the only airline flying directly to my hometown - and the only one flying to the airport on Italy I want to go to... So as much as I hate them they are the best/ only option!

They actually refunded my flight so I can now rebook and save myself £50 so it's all good.

Really excited about upcoming holiday in September now!
