I need some pizza topping inspiration! We're hosting an election party on Saturday night and I've decided to go with DIY pizzas. I'm going to set out a range of toppings and let people help themselves. The only problem is that I'm completely clueless. We mainly eat toddler-approved toppings, so I have ham and pineapple (gasp!) covered. What are your favourite pizza topping combinations? As authentic, or not, as you like Your help will be saving me googling and googling or getting side-tracked on pinterest.

Chicken with cranberry and camembert Anything with blue cheese. Apricot Sauce, chicken, pine nuts, cream cheese with rosemary (I pick the spring onions off but others like them)

get out my trusty mandolin, do some thinly sliced zucchini. Cook that with the normal cheese and tomato base on the pizza, then when it is out of the oven, add rocket and prosciutto.
Chorizo is something that goes well on pizzas.
Mandolin potato slices with gorgonzola. Or just potato, rosemary(or thyme) and garlic.

PS - I don't know if I can handle watching the fallout on Saturday night. On the one hand, Antony Green and Annabel Crabb on the same show, on the other hand, Abbott smugness.
Might have to drown my sorrows rather early on in the evening....

We have BOF (back of fridge) pizzas often. Ingredients such as capsicum, mushrooms, salami, bbq sauce, fresh basil, shredded chicken, jalapenos, olives, anchovies.
My favourite is probably chicken, camembert and cranberry if the sauce is not too sweet.

Oh, I did a caramalised onion and fennel pizza once, if you did the veggies first and put them in a bowl for people to pile on top of the base. that was very yummy and ended up being quite sweet. Just a PITA for general pizza nights as it took for ever to caramalise the veggies.

This is close to my all time favorite pizzas.. If you like spicy, and have access to tomatillos, it is awesome. I use parmasen cheese if I don't have cojita cheese, and I often leave off the black beans. danatreat.com/2009/06/haunted-by-pizza/

These are all fantastic ideas, thanks. I will do some caramelised onions, Kate. Great idea. There will be plenty of back-of-fridging, Sadie....There's some (still perfectly good) half used jars of olives, eggplant, capers etc which I'm going to offer up. PS - I don't know if I can handle watching the fallout on Saturday night. On the one hand, Antony Green and Annabel Crabb on the same show, on the other hand, Abbott smugness. Might have to drown my sorrows rather early on in the evening.... Yeah, me too. I think our gathering will actually be quite downcast as none of us are Coalition supporters. I'm planning on making some mulled wine. Unfortunately most of us have really young kids so can't really drink too much. We join you in your liking of Antony Green and Annabel Crabb. If H was a girl there was a good chance we would have called him/her Annabel after Crabb

My current favourite is pear, gorgonzola (or some other blue cheese) and prosciutto. I cook the prosciutto because I like it crispy. The pear is cooked before going into the oven, lightly stewed or roasted. This also has a tomato base and red onion slices.
Another favourite is caramelised onion, potato and taleggio cheese. I usually make a sauce out of the caramelised onion by adding a bit of vegetable stock and blend it till smooth.
Asparagus has just started its season, so another one is asparagus, smoked chicken thinly sliced and brie or camembert. I usually use the tomato sauce and red onion slices too on this one.
We can't take ham and pineapple off our menu - it's our second biggest seller!

Top idea! Top thread.
Womba - your first one sounds heavenly and I'm a pesce!
My absolute favourite pizza topping is gorgonzola, piquanté peppers, olives and pineapple. But I just made it up for me, I'm not sure it would work for everyone!!

i like the pizzas with no tomato sauce, but they're harder to find. just a nice brushing of good olive oil and garlic... yum.
