Do you eat the recommended five (or more, depending what country you're in) portions of fruit or veg a day?
I manage it most days - usually three for dinner, a piece of fruit and a vegetable soup or salad at lunch.
But I'd love to hear some more ideas of how to boost my intake, especially since I rarely drink fruit juice now.

Yes.
Do you really *need* to boost your intake? How about eating some fruit or vegetables for breakfast?
I almost never drink juice.

I am not good with fruit. I get my veggie intake because I eat mostly vegetarian with lots of different vegetables in a dish, usually.
I've recently started being better about breakfast every day, which is cereal with a banana or kiwifruit, dried fruits, nuts and yoghurt. since then I've been eating a lot more fruit at other times of the day as well. so since about 2/3 weeks i'm getting the 2 pieces of fruit a day which is recommended here. in general, i've started eating more since eating breakfast daily which feels a bit weird (but good)

I'm lazy as can be- can't even be bothered to heat stuff up most of the time, so fruit and veggies are easiest. I buy 2 or 3 varieties of both, wash and prep them right away, put them into tupperware to grab-and-go for all-day snacking. At any given time, I have fruit, veggies, and nuts in my bag. And a bag of candy. Don't judge.

I never know how to add it up. How many cherry tomatos or rocket to count as one portion? Do you have to eat a whole red pepper?
I eat more veg than fruit, mainly because I forget to buy fruit. I want to start to add berries to my breakfast to boost it.

I guess I'm thinking of how to include it in snacks in case I can't get a salad or soup for lunch. I don't like raw carrot etc otherwise I would snack on those.
Ria - apparently 80g is a portion which is about 6 cherry tomatoes, 1 apple etc.

So must it be 5 different portions or does it count if I have a large portion of sweet potato and one or two of something else?

I'm pretty sure that counts as well, right?

Go for 5 and 2 is the Australian campaign: www.gofor2and5.com.auThat will give you info on serve sizes etc. I eat tons of fruit and vegetables every day, possibly more fruit than vegetables.

probably not - I have two types of berries for breakfast, and some O-juice - so that could count as one or two depending on how you measure stuff. None for lunch unless you count pickled gherkins, usually some veggies included in dinner as a side. But many days I get only three or four portions I guess.
I don't eat salad, and can't stand raw veggies, and don't really like fruit besides berries. So snacks are not an option. I try to include some veggies into dinner most days...
I'm not too freaked out about it though - these are guidelines after all. I'm healthy, rarely get ill, with a healthy weight, and my recent big blood test came back with everything in the ideal range of things...So I must be doing something right.
