how to use the ITA to find cheap flights

when i had to go home quickly, someone (tinaja?) mentioned the ITA matrix and it worked... saved quite a bit of money.

i've come across these three articles about making the most of this tool, including stuff for people trying to get in extra mileage to move up a tier in loyalty programs.

Not I. I'm still trying to figure out the cheap, but fall on the sword of convenience too often.

That would have been me. I'm hopelessly addicted to ita, and can spend hours looking up flights for places I would like to go to. With this new info I foresee even more time being wasted on the site - thanks!
