I have been tasked with tonight's dinner. Mr Stick does 99%of the coking chez Stick and is a superb chef. I used to be pretty good at cooking but my skills have atrophied over the last few years. I could do with something maximum wow, minimum effort, as I am still feeling like a total slug. Veggie only options will I think be lacking in a welcome reception. Oh, and boringly, anything too spicy gives me nasty indigestion at the moment. Something that will make extra so I can bung it in the freezer would be great.
Please share your inspiration here. I'll be very grateful.

Ok, well I've sort of inspired myself.
Magic mash (as per the comfort food thread), chicken with peppers and tomatoes and some asparagus tips on the menu. Better get cooking.

And wine!

I wish wapsy, I wish.have another 3 weeks before I can drink wine (and as Mr Stick doesn't drink wine, I'm not opening a bottle just for the sauce).
I didn't plan this pregnancy all that well. We were given an amazing crate of claret as a wedding gift. I only got through one bottle of it before getting upduffed. Someone else gave us a wine tasting evening, still to be used.
My best friends have promised not to bring any baby gifts post-delivery - we already have an embarrassment of clothes etc. They are all bringing booze!

No ned to apologise waps. I'm dying for a drink. To be honest, it would probably have absolutely no impact on the baby now anyway, except that Sod's law dictates that I'd get pissed, go into labour and get referred to social services. Which would be embarrassing.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha, social services, yikes! This time of year I love roasted veggies. Just chop up a whole lot on a baking tray, toss with olive oil, bake at high temperatures til nearly done, toss with balsamic vinegar and salt and chopped fresh rosemary and roast till really done.

surely one teeny glass wouldn't hurt? I have a craving for magic mash now. How did your dinner go?

He wolfed it down and then stumbled into the bath, poor thing.
Think he liked it but was just totally knackered after 4 hours of painting. Bless him. I think this is him nesting. He was totally preoccupied by not just painting but painting it blue. I don't know why - I suggested cream (we're still trying to sell, nice neutral shade, and until I've seen this baby I'm not going to believe in a gender), but he was absolutely obsessed by painting the room blue, and as he was doing it I felt I couldn't protest too much. It's a lovely shade of blue, don't get me wrong, but absolutely not what I would have picked.
Anyway, as there's another coat plus the woodwork to go, looks like I'm cooking again tonight. Suggestions welcome again.

Risotto? Good filling food after painting, plus easy and you can work out what you want to add to it to give the flavour and oomph.
I'd say pasta bake, but not sure how that goes with gluten free pasta?

I went for beef casserole with new potatoes and broccoli. Trying to feed him proper man food. Went down well. Just the woodwork to go.
Had quite a lot of Braxton Hicks this evening which he said had focused his mind a bit!
Now have plenty of leftovers...

Yeah, suddenly realised after I posted my reply what the time was in the UK and figured dinner was well and truly over!

Must have done ok as he's taken the leftovers for lunch. I'd forgotten how nice feeding someone else is.
