Great, right?
Except it was blue.
Blue spongecake. It's odd how offputting the colour is, because it tasted fine.
Is there anything you don't want to eat just because of how it looks?

Shellfish and the vivid green St Pats day muffins that always land on the office table that day and have to be consumed with air of gratitude as the donor thinks they are wonderful.

Unfortunately I am not put off by the look of hardly anything. I have a problem with some textures so I cannot eat runny scrambled egg, porridge, etc. Makes me gag at the thought of it.

I ate the cake, hence I know that it tasted ok. But around half of it was left at the end of the day... and that never happens!
I think I'd have a problem with eyeballs...

When I was teaching science in Solomon Islands (boarding school) I did an experiment that would have stopped Australian teenagers in their tracks. I offered them food dyed strange colours with food colouring (eg blue tuna, green rice) They didn't care about the colour. it smelt and tasted like food, so they ate it thankfully. We in the West have too much food most of the time, and can choose to be picky eaters.

There's very little in the natural food worl that is blue, even blueberries don't stay bue when you cook them.
Rejecting blue food might be more about food safety than picky eating.

I had never been picky with food with respect of its looks, but since I´ve had cats, I wouldn´t touch oatmeal or porridge.

I still don't get what red velvet cake is and why it's dyed red but I've only had it once so far and wasn't impressed. From what I was told it's just supposed to taste like chocolate cake but with cream cheese icing. No idea if that's correct or not but if so then why add red food colouring? I'm ok with red if it's berry flavoured... confused. I do know it's very popular so guess I need to find somewhere good to get it and try again.
