I found this recipe for Moroccan cinnamon chicken and it seemed easy enough for me so I decided to try it. Just a couple of problems - - It calls for dates. I don't like dates. I sub in dried cherries (which I plump up by soaking in vodka, which is reserved for a drink later).
- I can't find powdered ginger anywhere today. So I use fresh.
Can I tell you how delicious this was? omg. It was so good. I'm just bragging.

Oh yum - sounds good. I do like the idea of drunken cherries added to the dish.

I am overly keen on dates either. I think dried plums (san pit) or simple raisisn work fine as substitute. Would never have thought of dried cherries.
No dried ginger where you are? I have heeps laying around. Sending it would cause all kinds of sniffer-dog-problems though I think ;-)

I'm sure there is. I just didn't want to walk all over the place to find some.

I'm not keen on dates and that's why I always do the lemon chicken and olive tajine instead of the lamb one. Wonder if cherries would work instead.

Hey Webs, could you share the recipe, please? I actually prefer the idea of fresh ginger in place powdered ginger. The flavours are rather different, and the latter can get unnecessarily pungent sometimes.

I adore dates, but the way you did it sounds great too (I also adore dried cherries).
Yes, recipe please!
