OMG - booked a flight to Lanzarote

Leaving January 5th. One week.
Just the flight, so I'm looking for accommodation. Do you know anything fun or quirky?
It's not at all difficult to find a normal charter type hotel, but I would prefer a classical pension or perhaps a cottage away of the playas.

I've been there once, that was 1996, the same time of the year. I did like the barren landscape, so wherever I live I'll get around to different places. Any tips on walking or nice villages?

Oh, and are anyone going there around that time? Minipissup?
