ideas for apps?

*appetizers, that is - although I'm sure there is an app for apps.

got the work party on Friday. It is at someones house but right after work. We need to take something to eat and I'm at a loss. It needs to be portable and prepared the night before. (It is a two hour drive to the office, I will be at work all day, then need to get it to the party about a block from the office.) There are fridges at work or it will be cold enough to leave it in my car for the day. Other people already have veggies, sausage rolls, cheese & crackers, spring rolls and butter chicken marked down. I do have Christmas cookies that I will bring but need something else.

Ideas?

(PS - the alternative is to get take out from one of the restaurants in the area. Wonder if the Indian place across the road has good food??)

phyllo pastry pockets. buy the pastry, pretty easy to make. could be either sweet or savoury fillings.

some sort of fruit dish?

thai fish cakes. easy to make, keep well in a cold car, and easy to eat.

My mind is still boggling at the thought of it being cold enough to leave food in the car all day. Wouldn't even consider doing that in winter here.

yup, i sort of miss being able to put ice cream in the car and not worry about melting while out shopping.

hehehe - yeah, if anything I'm worried it might be too cold for some stuff although I think it should be okay (forecast is for minus one Celsius as a daytime high)

Not much of a fish person but am googling the thai fish cakes

i made some in a cooking class and they were so easy, and (sorry brits) far nicer than the fish cakes here. i did make them once with salmon, feta, and spinach--and different spices, obv. but very easy and light, despite being fried.
