Tagging as I'd like one too.
I often order it over beef but to the confusion of the staff I add bacon :-D

My Mother makes a fabulous three-bean burger with black-eyed beans, garbanzo beans and kidney beans. Not sure if you folks would like the Indian flavoured one, but sharing the recipe anyway (Mom said that you could substitute the Indian flavouring with Worcestershire sauce, parsley, sage and oregano) Ingredients: 1 cup full of all three types of beans - soaked overnight, boiled al dente in a pressure cooker and drained. 3/4 cup finely chopped onions 2 tsp finely chopped garlic 1/3 cup grated carrot 1/3 cup grated cottage cheese (optional) 1 1/2 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika) 1/2 tsp cumin seed powder 1 tbsp lime juice 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander 1/2 cup bread crumbs salt to taste
Method: Heat the oil in a non- stick pan, add the onions and garlic and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the mixed beans, carrots and cottage cheese and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the chilli flakes, cumin seed powder and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for another 2 minutes. Add the lime juice, coriander and bread crumbs and mix well. Remove from the flame and mash it to a coarse mixture using a potato masher. Set aside to cool. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty of 75 mm (3”) diameter and 1 cm thickness. To cook one patty, heat about 1 tbsp butter or oil in a small frying pan over medium heat until hot, but not smoking. Add the patty and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until it is heated through and browned and crispy on each side. Drain on absorbent paper and serve with burger buns with onion rings and salsa.

Made this for dinner tonight. The patties got a bit scorched because someone called me just as I put them on the griddle :/ They taste great (though nothing can beat meat ) - go well with a nice green salad on the side. Attachment Deleted

I think I'm moving in with Soul, I love every recipe she posts.
I want to try the bean thing... wonder if cheating and using canned beans will still work... might have to experiment.

Q, now that's a brilliant idea. Think of the conversations at the dining table.
I'm thinking canned beans would be great because there's also the chance of the beans not getting cooked properly after the overnight soaking and subsequent cooking.
