For various reasons it's difficult for me to make my Christmas main course at my dad's place (mainly because my brother takes up all the counter space preparing the roast).
I'm wondering if it's ok to do the following: make and freeze tomorrow night. Take out of the freezer Xmas Eve morning, take with me on 1 hr journey to work. Put in fridge at work till 3pm. Then take with me on 3 hr journey to my dad's. Put in fridge on arrival.
There is no meat or fish in the dish but a little dairy.

Do you have an insulated bag you can carry it in with ice bricks as well?

I think frozen pastry might not be good... sorry!
If you can keep it cold, at fridge temperature for the day you should be fine, I'd invest in some iceblocks, and wrap it well.

I now have ice blocks so I'm hoping it'll work!

I would think you'd be ok as it's vegetarian and won't be re-frozen. If the stuff is frozen at the start it'll stay cold enough during transit, especially if you have a cooler bag. If you can't get any freezer blocks just get some ice or a bag of frozen veg.
I tend to freeze leftovers to take to work for lunch and it's usually still frozen by the time I chuck it in the microwave 5 hours after taking out from freezer, and I keep it in room temperature--and there's a lot less of it than what you'll be taking.

Don't see a reason for that not to work. And pastry freezes well.

I understood it would be cooked including the pastry, then frozen. That would be gross.
Raw pastry is fine frozen.

I thought she'd cook the whole thing then freeze? I don't see an issue with freezing cooked pastry though.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Made but not cooked before freezing.

It's unfreezing cooked pastry that's gross... Particularly with certain fillings that turn to mush and release a lot of water.
But I'd it's all raw then it would be fine, although I'd probably just keep it cold all day rather than frozen.... You're cooking it at the end of the day anyway which should kill any bugs.
