We're counting down... so which events do you want to watch?
Which teams are you cheering for?
Any athletes you're especially excited to see?

Definitely Australia. Maybe Germany in some things. But mostly I'm going to be watching the rhythmic gymnastics to see my friend who is one of the judges. Very exciting for him!

I don't really have anything that I feel the need to watch. I know I will end up watching somethings, but I'm really not interested in individual events for now, and couldn't think of any athletes I want to follow. Add to that the horribly biased coverage we get here and I'm feeling all a bit 'meh' about it.

That reminds me - on the radio the other day one of the DJ's said he and his daughter were watching the Dutch play in Euro 2016 and she asked if the Dutch worked for Road works people because of the bright orange! (She's four and there's a lot of road works near their house)
I'll be supporting NZ of course so there'll be some rowing, Rugby 7's, Equestrian. I always like watching the gymnastics.

Well I assumed that's what they were watching - it was some sport thing that they were watching and the dutch were wearing bright orange. The football thing was the most recent big sport thing that I knew was on TV and would have potentially involved the Dutch.

Nope... The Dutch team did not qualify, which was a bit of a knock to the national pride, but did make for a quieter neighbourhood.
But yes, they do wear a pretty violent shade of orange.

And this is why our pub quiz team sucks at the sports round! (well not just me - we're all useless)

Doesn't seem to be much excitement in Australia about the Olympics this time around. Probably because we don't seem to have too many world-class athletes at the moment. Hoping for a couple of medals in the swimming and cycling, otherwise meh.

Well if I watch the Dutch coverage it'll look like a swimming and cycling competition.

Swimming, athletics and gymnastics for me. Used to watch almost everything when I lived in the UK but the coverage is so bad here I tend to watch a lot less.

But you will be able to watch stuff at odd hours with nighttime feeds!

I'll be cheering for New Zealand, Netherlands, Italy and Canada. Which sounds busy, but there aren't that many summer sports that I like so it's not too bad.
Sports I like; Gymnastics, Diving, Tennis, and Sailing... but I don't like watching sailing, so that saves time.
I'll also be cheering for #TeamRefugees (https://www.olympic.org/news/refugee-olympic-team-to-shine-spotlight-on-worldwide-refugee-crisis)

Solomon Islands and Australia. And athletics and swimming. When I was a volunteer at the Sydney Olympics, I requested a team from a small country in Africa or the Pacific that wasn't likely to win anything, as for these people, the whole Olympic experience, representing their country and achieving a personal best is what is important. I worked in the village with the team from The Gambia: 2 sprinters and about 7 officials.

I love the Olympics. I watch the athletics and will cheer for team GB but there are some others that I enjoy watching Usain (the man is a speed demon) and Shelly Ann (Jamaican sprinter). I always want team GB to do well. I follow a lot of them on FB and they work bloody hard (as do all athletes, not just team GB). I have a particular soft spot for Adam Gemili.

Athletics, swimming, cycling (road race and track). I think the athletics will be on about midnight here with the time difference.

Olympics, what Olympics? Yes, i vaguely know they're approaching and are in Rio where there have been lots of issues with pollution and contamination, but beyond that my newsfeeds are full of brexit doom with the occasional bojo clown thrown in... maybe it's just the fact last time there was no escaping the Olympics what with them being in London.

Love the diving too, but definitely won't be watching golf.
