Time for another escape from South India.
This time Singapore for 5 days. Goal: relax and eat and drink.
Any suggestions for your fave hawker centers, bakeries, bars, or coffee places?
Don't care about shopping but if you have a place (park, museum, etc.) that is worth a stop I'd love to hear about that too.
Thanks.

It's about eight years since I was last there. Which is a long time in Singapore. 50% of it has probably changed since then!
I think it's a great choice for an India escape though. You are going to marvel at the clean!

I really enjoyed the Asian civilisations museum when I was there a couple of years ago.
And make sure you have the spicy crab which is the national dish.

I will not be eating any Indian food or visiting Little India. New Woodlands is actually a chain, one right near my flat, supposedly has the best sambar.
Thanks for the other recs though womba.

We stayed at the New Woodlands in Chennai about a million years ago where we first discovered it. Have eaten at the chain in a few places - we even had one in Perth for a while. If you can warrant the cost, a high tea in one of the top end hotels can be good fun. My sister likes the Grand Hyatt, but there are some cheaper options in this blog post: www.ladyironchef.com/2016/01/singapore-afternoon-tea/Little Arabia and Little China are probably more your style rather than Little India as you say. Kampong Glam is another groovy little area to check out too.
